APGA FLAGS-OFF ZONAL CAMPAIGN IN ANAMBRA CENTRAL

Governor Peter Obi has charged the State electorate to vote in credible and articulate candidates capable of giving the State quality representation at the National and State Assemblies. Governor Obi was speaking at the flag-off of Anambra Central Zonal Campaign of All Progressives Grand Alliance – APGA at Ogidi Mini Stadium.



Governor Obi said effective representation of the State at the National Assembly was necessary in the present effort to restore the Status of the State to enable it take its prime position in national affairs.



The Governor emphasized that people of the State and indeed Ndigbo should forge a common front and work collectively to promote the general welfare of the people. He expressed satisfaction that his administration has restored stability as the State is on course of sustainable development.



The National Chairman of the Party, Chief Victor Umeh said there was no alternative party to APGA and urged the people to vote for the party to consolidate its leadership in the State as Governor Obi has served the State selflessly.



Chief Umeh explained that APGA adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its Presidential candidate because, according to him, his candidature is divine and urged Nigerians to support him as his emergence would further unify the country and remove shackles of tribal and religious sentiments.



Speaking on behalf of the candidates, the APGA Senatorial candidate for Anambra Central and former Minister of Information, Prof. Dora Akunyili, thanked APGA for giving them the opportunity to contest on its platform and for conducting free, fair and credible primary election. Prof. Akunyili assured they will live up to expectations and bring honour to the State and glory to God.



Highlights were presentation of over 1000 decampees from PDP and ACN as well as presentation of flags to candidates.



The decampees including the strong man of the PDP in Awka South, Chief Austin Ndigwe, all the ward and women leaders of the PDP and ACN. Declaring their stand at a rally to mark the flag-off of the Anambra Central Zonal Campaign of APGA at Ogidi Mini Stadium, the decampees said they wanted to be part of the success story of Governor Obi and APGA as a party.
