Ngozi Olejeme, now Anioma Personality of the Year

Dr Ngozi Olejeme was yesterday announced as Anioma Trust’s Anioma Personality of the Year winner for 2013. The Chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust-fund (NSITF), gathered 809 votes which was 32.15% of the total votes cast by Anioma indigenes online to emerge the winner of this year’s Anioma prestigious award. She was closely followed by Desert Warrior and acclaimed Environmentalist, Chief (Dr) Newton Jibunoh who had 541 votes being 21.50% of the total votes cast and Chief Messenger of Anioma Voice and initiator of Save Ndokwa Nation, Comrade Marcus Chukwunalu Enudi polled 305 votes representing 12.12% of the whole votes.

Other nominees were leader of Igbanke Nationals Progressive Association and Igbanke Advocate, Barr (Mrs) Gloria Eluebo Adagbon 281 votes (11.18%) and Transition Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Hon Innocent Esewezie who tied with the Obi of Idumuje-Unor, HRH Obi Charles Anyasi III with the duo polling 223 votes each, being 8.86% of the total votes cast and Former Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper trainer of Super Falcons of Nigeria, Mrs Ann Chiejine polling 134 votes which is 5.33% of the entire votes cast. Total votes cast in all were 2,516.

The Anioma Trust’s Anioma Personality of the Year is an annual award for achievements instituted by Anioma Trust Newspaper in 2011. Past recipients of the award have been Arc Kester Ifeadi and Mr Awele Nwabuokei. Dr Mrs Ngozi Juliet Olejeme was nominated for her philanthropic contributions towards the Anioma less-privileged and widows.
The Chairman of the Selection Committee, Emeka Esogbue has noted that the Anioma family is increasingly becoming conscious of the agents of socio-political and economic change of its environment for the good of all.
‘The Anioma Personality of the Year honour is a testimony of this realism’ he said while urging every Anioma son and daughter to play responsive roles towards the building of the Anioma nation.

According to him, every nominee of this year’s award is a winner since they were designated and voted for, for their contributions towards the development of the region.
