According
to the Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udu, the aim of the biometric exercise
was to ensure that the payroll is in line with the nominal roll.
While
urging the workers to be calm that everybody would be attended to, the Head of
Service stated that the exercise would last for two weeks, advising those who
have difficulties in the process to visit the help-desk for immediate
attention.
On his part,
the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Commerce, Mr. Leo
Imoka, said the exercise was a welcome development, noting that at the end of
the exercise, ghost workers would be dealt with.
Some of
the workers Ebele Okeke and Kate Okafor, said though it took them time to get
their cheques, she expressed joy that they succeeded and commended the state
government for the initiative which according to them, will help sanitize the
system.
