Putting God First In Everything, My Earnest Resolve - Ukah
By: Patrick Ochei
The Delta State Honourable Commissioner of Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah has said that putting God first in his everyday life and every other thing, to him has been a conscious resolve. He made this assertion while addressing the Anglican congregation during the 2017 Men's Fellowship Father's Day Celebration at the Diocese of Asaba (Anglican Communion) Christ Anglican Church, Okpanam, on Sunday 18th June, 2017.
Ukah stressed that fathers should imbibe the culture of celebrating themselves, whether there is a day set aside for it or not. He also advised that mothers should as a matter of family love and unity be celebrated all the time for that special role God is using them to play in the family.
The Commissioner commended the Men's Fellowship for not just inviting him to their Father's Day Celebration, but recognising him with an award as the Father of the Day.
The eloquently sound information manager said he was not given to long speeches in such a rare privileged occasions, but admitted that he was overwhelmed with such an honour even as a practicing Catholic.
Speaking while presenting the award plaque to Mr. Ukah, the Vicar of the Christ Anglican Church, Okpanam, Rev'd. U.B.A Okolotu (JP) commended the Commissioner for being the selected one for the award amongst several thousands of fathers within the state capital to be so honoured. "It shows it is good to be good. It shows we must at all times live a life worthy of being mentioned in positive circumstance", he stressed.
Admonishing the congregation, the Minister of God said, " Let ur sacrifice speak for u. I must encourage the Father of the Day to continue to do good both as a family man and on his official assignments. I tell u that u were genuinely chosen; and that is how to reward those who do good in the society and by so doing honour them on merit".
Earlier, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 2017 Men's Fellowship Father's Day Celebration, Mr. F.I. Adeda had described the personality of the Hon. Commissioner as awesome, owing to why he was chosen and sought after to come to the occasion not just as a Special Guest of Honour but also to honour him as the Father of the Day.
Mr. Adeda observed that Ukah, apart from being an astute grassroots political mobilizer and apostle of Governor Okowa's SMART Agenda; he possesses all the qualities of a family man as prescribed for the man to be our Father of the Day.
Indeed it was a day to remember. The atmosphere was filled with so much love as wives and members alike celebrated every man in the house with different grades of gifts.
