The Senator representing the Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly and Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta affairs, Sen (Barr) Peter Nwaoboshi has reassured his esteemed constituents of his readiness to continue to give them quality representation in the National Assembly.
Speaking yesterday, December 22, 2017, at a meeting held with leaders and youth across the nine (9) local government areas of Anioma nation at his Palatial Ibusa residence, the Senator stated that upon inauguration as Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, he understudied the Politics of the National Assembly, and finally succeeded in fusing himself into the caucus that today produced the entire Senate leadership. He noted that his experience in politics over the years coupled with his political dexterity and prowess earned him the Chairman of a powerful committee in the Senate (Sen.Committee Chairman on Niger Delta Affairs) despite being a first time Senator and also in opposition.
While highlighting his achievements thus far in the senate, he stated that he has made judicious use of his committee to bring developments to his people. He said that he was particularly irked (going through the records of the Amnesty office), to see that the Ndokwa people whom he represents were totally denied of the benefits accruing to other Oil producing ethnic nationalities of the Niger Delta region. He hinted further that the situation which he considered ugly pushed him into organising a public hearing that today saw Ndokwa people benefiting from the presidential Amnesty programme under different agricultural vocations with the first set of 96 beneficiaries trained and awaiting empowerment next year.
Speaking further at the interactive session, he disclosed that so far, he has also used his good office to attract road projects, Skills acquisition centres and many other infrastructural developments to his Anioma people, citing Kwale and Ibusa Skills Acquisition centres amongst others, including completed road projects as evidence of his robust representation at the national Assembly.
He further informed his people that he recently used his good office in oversighting the activities of the NDDC to attract and secure about 17.5km road projects to be distributed across the Nine (9) local government areas of Delta North, which has received approval from the relevant authority.
Senator Nwaoboshi while Calling on aggrieved Party members who lost during the just concluded local government election primaries to close ranks and work together with the flag bearers of the Party in the greater interest of the PDP in Delta state, noted that apart from the infrastructural development he has attracted to Anioma Nation within his two years at the National Assembly, that he has also fared well in his primary function as a lawmaker, which is hinged on the business of lawmaking. He disclosed that one of the bills he sponsored, the NDDC amendment bill which sought to reposition the Commission for better service delivery to Niger Delta region has just been accented to by the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, yesterday, amongst other bills at different legislative stages.
He expressed his readiness to continue to advance and amplify the voice of the Anioma people in the National Assembly, urging his constituents to continue in prayers and support to all elected and appointed Political office holders from the region.
The gathering equally availed the leaders and youth the opportunity to ask some salient questions bordering on development and Sen.Nwaoboshi's representation, which he answered satisfactorily.
