GOV OKOWA'S EXECUTIVE AIDE, FRED LATIMORE OGHENESIVBE WANTS DAME EDITH OKOWA TO GROOM SUCCESS ADEGOR.
...AS CHIEDU EBIE WARN SCHOOL HEADS TO ABSTAIN FROM ILLEGAL FEE COLLECTIONS IN DELTA STATE.
Executive Assistant on Communications to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has respectfully appealed to the First Lady of the State and Founder of 05 Initiative, Dame Edith Okowa, to sign on Miss Success Adegor, the 7 years old little girl of Okotie Eboh Primary School 1, in Sapele, as the NGOs Girl Child Education Ambassador.
Oghenesivbe made the appeal while speaking as a guest on national television in Lagos, on the illegal fee saga which prompted the video on Miss Adegor, a primary 3B student of Okotie-Eboh Primary School, who was sent home by her head teacher over delayed school fees payment in the sum of N900.
He noted that Dame Okowa's vision as encapsulated in the 05 Initiative programmes may accommodate Miss Adegor as special ambassador of the NGO; and to serve as a role model for other girl child in the state and beyond who are desirous of quality education, adding that the mental and intellectual capacity of the seven years old girl is stable enough to accommodate strategic grooming that will bring out the best in her as 05 Initiative Girl Child Education Ambassador.
Gov Okowa's EA Communications further asserted that the various online television interviews in which Miss Adegor spoke enthusiastically about her ordeal; portray her as a focused and intelligent child with uncommon wisdom laced in her choice of words, an indication that she is a "destiny child" and future world leader.
"I can testify to the gold heart of our amiable First Lady, Dame Edith Okowa, when it comes to assisting indigent Deltans as can be seen from her philanthropic activities under the 05 Initiatives. And it is my candid opinion that Miss Success Adegor can be integrated into activities of 05 Initiative on part time basis as the NGOs Girl Child Education Ambassador, and made to undergo special grooming while Dame Okowa becomes her role model for life.
"I watched Miss Adegor's interview with BukkyO TV and Legit TV online, and I was deeply amazed at the ability of the seven years old girl quick responses to questions as well as her determination to become a lawyer and a pastor. She wants to be a lawyer to fight injustice in our country and in the same token a pastor to preach the gospel of salvation to all nations.
"I do know that Dame Okowa is both an educationist, an Evangelist and a philanthropist. It will be ideal for a responsible public figure like the First Lady of Delta State, to stand in the gap between Miss Adegor and her parents, play the role of a mentor so that the little girl can be well groomed, morally and spiritually guided to attain her goals of becoming a legal practitioner and Preacher of the gospel, in future.
"It will be a good thing for Miss Success Adegor to change environment and transfer to a standard school where her intellectual skills can be developed and sharpened; a responsibility that Dame Okowa and the 05 Initiative can accept to assist the little girl to achieve her dreams within reasonable years from now, going forward," Oghenesivbe said.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Commissioner for Basic Education in Delta State, Chiedu Ebie Esq, has warned head teachers in public schools to abstain from imposing illegal fees on students to avoid severe sanctions.
Ebie in a telephone conversation with Gov Okowa's EA Communications, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe on Tuesday 25th March, 2019 said it has become necessary to issue the warning because the state government is committed to the provision of facilities and infrastructure development in the education sector; and as such sharp practices within the system shall be resisted and culprits shown the way out.
He disclosed that contract for the renovation of Okotie Eboh Primary School II has been awarded while efforts have been intensified for the award of Okotie Eboh Primary School I, where Miss Success Adegor's ordeal and online video emanated.
Ebie said plans are in the pipeline by government to empower the parent of Miss Adegor, so that her dream of acquiring sound education can be actualised but was quick to add that such empowerment gesture may not be cash reward; but other tangible assistance that will guarantee genuine and sustainable means of generating steady income in line with the job and wealth creation agenda of this administration.
