MDGs Costing: Uduaghan is 100% committed to implement….....Dr. Obidi

Addressing selected senior officers in the Delta State civil service at the follow-up training workshop on MDGs Costing, the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Dr. Austin Obidi, informed facilitators and participants that the Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan led-administration is prepared and committed to effectively implement the Delta State MDGs costing framework and policy of action for the State’s MDGs projects, once the costing framework and plan of action is made ready at the end of the on-going training.

Dr. Austin Obidi also urged participants to commit themselves to regular, punctual and active participation at the 3 days follow-up training, so as to produce for the state government a functional and cost effective management of the available limited resources for the realization of both the MDGs and the 3-point agenda of the state government, this he pointed out will bring to the grass-root good governance and democratic gains, also participants were informed that this training will be scaled down to the 25 local government areas of the state and as such they are going to be the lead champions in this course at helping the local government council officers key effectively into the Delta State government program of MDGs costing framework and plan of action.

The Special Adviser in a special media chat with Asaba post News-Paper, identified the benefits of effective MDGs costing regime to include: an improved and accelerated un-going maternal health program of the state government; scaling up of job creation potentials in the state; overall advancement of key specific state-wide policies and projects such as the free rural health-care scheme, maternal health projects, examination fee exemption for state pupil and student, micro credit scheme, youth empowerment through agriculture and other human capital development/peace-building initiative projected for the interest of the state citizens and residents.

Colleen Zamba, UNDP economic Adviser, informed Asaba post News-paper that the UNDP is in the state to support the Delta State Government in all key areas of MDGs project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and community development initiatives, Zamba invited all Delta State stakeholders to commit their ideas, talents and resources to the realization of the MDGs in the state, as such feat will bring to the grass-root both good governance and sustainable development.
