It is trite that failing to plan is
planning to fail and this is an old adage that present day political
strategists and practitioners have to learn as they progress. In politics,
campaigning and lobbying are the keys to election success.
The other two candidates in the
State are accidental politicians, who see politics as being only synonymous
with electoral contest by simply buying nomination forms, erecting giant
billboards, posting photographs and indulging in sponsoring blackmailing
articles.
On the other hand, Senator Okowa has been touring the entire State
since the last election in 2007, soliciting for support and endorsement, while
the other two spent their time in Lagos and travelling around the world, aiming
at deceiving Urhobos to grant them the status of a consensus candidate.
Their
strength lies in seeking the endorsement of an ethnic union the Urhobo Progress
Union to govern a multi-ethnic State like Delta. Read more at:
They allow the words of Isaac Asimov
to stand that says “Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its
way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that
democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge’.”
Within the cob-web of their
followers, they spread the rumours of being President Jonathan’s personal
friend and some even brag about their ethnic background. The action of the
other candidates is seen by many political pundits as an attempt to cry in the
market square in other to gain the sympathy of the public.
But Deltans will speak on February
28 through their votes against the other two that time has come for the State
to be governed by a man of high values, character and who is part of their
daily existence like Senator Okowa.
I once said that the people of Delta
State are more enlightened than yesterday that instead of them voting for
absentee landlords, men they know will ruin their economy; they will instead
collectively revolt against such intruders. Democracy cannot succeed unless
those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely.
Senator Ifeanyi Okowa consulted the
political stakeholders across the twenty five local government areas of the
State. Consulted all the social-cultural and ethno groups, like Urhobo, Ijaw,
Isoko, Itsekiri, Ukwuani, Ika and Aniocha and Oshimili.
He consulted the Elders
one after the other. He consulted the traditional rulers, clan heads, village
heads, family heads, women, youth groups, labour unions, students, religious
leaders, market women, transport operators and consulted the leadership of the
People Democratic Party from the ward to the State level.
He also took charge of the social
media, print media and the electronic media to reach out to the people of Delta
State and confer his good purpose for the State. So why should he not win?
God honours hard work more than idle
minds that sit back and hope on God’s grace and adoption by UPU. Senator
Ifeanyi Okowa’s success is coming from a combination of hard work and God’s
ornament of favour in his life.
