There is
no gainsaying that the journeyman governorship candidate of Labour party (LP)
is a man to be reckoned with, even after four (4) defeats. Chief Great Ogboru,
who is from Ethiope East Local Government Area, has started his governorship
campaign again after declaring at Warri Township Stadium two weeks ago. Deltans
are aware that he contested in 2003, 2007, the rerun of 2011 and the general
elections of 2011, This will now be his fifth stint under the umbrella (no pun
intended) of a third political parties.
The
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state has gone to twenty-four Local
Government Areas in its campaign rallies and has removed any doubt about the
acceptability of its flag bearer, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, as the
next occupant of Dennis Osadebe House come My 29, 2015.
Nonetheless,
the party still made a pit stop in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government last
week. That being the LGA of Ogboru, one would have expected a less than
receptive crowd. Instead, the Supposed Urhobo stronghold of the People’s
General, under the able leadership of Hon. Commissioner Kenneth Okpara,
confirmed that PDP will also sweep that LGA. The Presidential election of
February 14, which will include the vote for Delta Central Senatorial Seat and
Ethiope federal Constituency, appears to be a sure-banker. The vote for Senator
Ifeanyi Okowa as the next governor and the State House of Assembly seat appear
to be a fait accompli.
Part of
the reason why PDP will be victorious in Ethiope East is because of the
empowerment of the inhabitants of the LGA and their various leaders who have
brought dividends of democracy to bear on the masses. One of such leaders is
Olorogun Kenneth Okpara, the Commissioner of Finance for the State and the
Director of Finance for the PDP Campaign Organization. Hon. Kenneth Okpara, who
was recently invested as FELLOW of the Social Science Academy of Nigeria
(FESSAN), is the World Bank genius behind the State Dashboard Therapy and
several laudable economic policies of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s
administration.
Olorogun
Kenneth Okpara is not new to politics, governance, finance or administration
based on his extensive international experience. Olorogun Kenneth Okpara is an
international financial expert and a chartered accountant with strong
leadership and analytical skills. This international financial whiz-kid was
born in Eku, Ethiope East LGA, Delta State, Nigeria. His achievements have also
earned him recognition from his community, including a chieftaincy title.
Olorogun
Okpara was some years ago dubbed “Super Commissioner” by the Governor of Delta
State, His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, for his pivotal role
in various capacities, including as a former Commissioner for Economic Planning.
The
Commissioner also called on all Deltans to collect their Permanent Voters card
(PVC) and ensured Deltans that he will mobilize for both President Goodluck
Jonathan and Senator Okowa in the upcoming elections.
With
stakeholders like Hon. Kenneth Okpara, 100% victory is assured for PDP in Delta
State.
All
Deltans welcome His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to Asaba for
the grand finale and National Rally on Wednesday, February 4, 2015.
