It is a public knowledge that INEC has declared Gov Dickson of Bayelsa state the winner of the fiercely contested Bayelsa governorship election.
The security
agents showed utmost professionalism and there was no record of the famous
Ekitigate. I could understand the Bayelsa PDP and Gov Dickson when they were
trying to preempt President Muhammadu Buhari and security agents by accusing
them of plotting to declare Timipre Sylva and the
APC winner at all cost.
However, I think that
the PDP and Gov Dickson should apologise to Mr President and the security
agents now that they have been proven wrong. It is true that Timipre Sylva is a
strong supporter of president Muhammadu Buhari and a committed member of the
APC, but President Muhammadu Buhari has shown a long record of putting national
interest above partisan and personal interest.
Even within the
political parties like ANPP, CPC and now APC, members of these political
parties will attest to the fact that Muhammadu Buhari has never interfered with
the process of choosing candidates that will represent the parties.
Nigerians
can be rest assured that President Muhammadu Buhari will promote, support and
work towards a free, credible and acceptable elections in Nigeria.
As an individual and
member of APC, I worked for Timipre Sylva to win and I wish he did, but the
integrity, uprightness and national interest President Muhammadu Buhari stands
for is paramount for me and on that I stand gidigba.
The Change APC and Buhari
promised is my topmost priority. I am sure that Timipre Sylva will go to court
to challanged some of the results as he has indicated.
That shows the APC and
Timipre Sylva believes in the rule of law and not power from Abuja or
incumbency. Nigeria is onthe path to greatness.
