Explains Why Asaba Roads Rehabilitation Are Slow.

One
of the heavily delapidated roads and a horrible eye sore within the heart of
Asaba metropolise has finally attracted the attention of the Delta State
Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Asaba Post News Wire confirmed.
According
to the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Comrade Charles Ehiedu,
Governor Okowa is committed to total and proactive rehabilitation of major and
link roads within the capital city of Asaba.
Addressing
journalists during a facility tour of an unveiling of the newly acquired
secretariate for the indigenious newspaper and magazine chaple of the Nigerian
Union of Journalists, Delta State council, Comrade Ehiedu threw insights into
the state governor's firm commitment at turming Asaba to a first class city in
Nigeria.
Governor
Okowa has today demonstrated his concern and prepared News at making sure that
the famous and nearly forgotten Isioma Onyeobi Way is Rehabilitated.
With
the governor's demonstrated concern today to pwrsonally inspect the roads,,
this shows that our governor is a listening governor, Comrade Ehiedu pointed
out.
Before
now Deltans and other dwellers along Isioma Onyeobi Way had at several
occassions called upon the government to come to their rescue as tipper drivers
excavating beach sand had damaged the roads, so badly.
It
will be recalled that at his Ineh Festival goodwill message to Asaba people,
Chief P. I. G Onyeobi, the Iyase of Asaba, had bitterly lamented over the increasing
delapidated states of road networks within the Asaba metropolise and had called
upon the state government for sweet response.
The
Iyase had also charged the state government to urgently relocate the beaches of
all dredging firms, whose activities deface and damage road networks within the
Asaba capital city.
Ogbueshi
John Okolie commended the Iyase's firm and kindid position on the poor state of
Asaba road networks.
In
the same list, I highly salute Governor Okowa's listening ears to the poor state
of Asaba road networks raised by the traditional prime minister of Ahaba land.
That
in less than one month after Chief Onyeobi brought to lime light the plights of
Asaba dwellers as it concerns poor road networks and the state governor is
already through his body language shows he has respect for the Iyase of Asaba,
to me that is a commendable plus for the governor, Ogbueshi Okolie said.
The
governor's chief press secretary, also observed that his boss is prepared and
committed to rehabilitate many more roads within the capital city of Asaba.
Stressing
that despite the current nation wide recession, limited internally generated
revenue and decreasing state allocations from the federal government, Comrade
Ehiedu maintained that the governor is committed to rehabilitate more Asaba
Roads.
Governor
Okowa is not just concerned about straight Alsphat taring of roads but highly
interested in working out approaches that will guarantee quality road networks
with durable and top quality drainage systems for any future Asaba road
construction or rehabilitation, Comrade Ehiedu said.
The
Isioma Onyeobi Way to many Asaba natives is a highly significant road to the
People's historical past, colonial encounter cum engagement, biannual
traditional carnivals/festivals and other Social-cultural realities the People
cheerish alot.
