*Bad Eggs In The Judiciary Must Be Shown The Way Out……… Otomiewo

Striking a balance between direct foreign investment and the rule of law for development and good governance, the delta state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, assured Deltans that his administration will continuously promote and implement policies that guarantee and enthrone the rule of law.
The governor’s position was made public at the occasion of the Delta state ministry of Justice’s public presentation of the laws of Delta state, recently at Asaba.
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan remarked that “government should be of laws rather than of men”, maintaining that “Good governance is all about drafting, promoting and implementing pro-people laws and regulations, without laws all the huge capital investment of the state government will suffer serious set-back” he told Deltans.
“Despite, serious security threats in some nations of the middle east region, investors still go their to do business, their motivation is anchored on the fact that the regime of rule of law is effectively sustained, this government is committed to the same goal, hence, the huge public resources committed to the realization of the public presentation of the laws of Delta State” Uduaghan noted.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Delta state Attorney- General and commissioner for justice, chief Victor E. Otomiewo, Promised that the ministry is already talking steps towards the reform of the criminal justice procedure, through sponsoring a bill to the Delta State house of Assembly.
“One of such bills seek to remove the requirement of consent of a high court judge to proffer information prosecution, because of the increasing number of pending applications for consent of our high court judges, as presently obtainable in some state of the federation “ Chief Otomiewo said.
“A situation where a high court judge would grant an ex-part injunction to restrain the police from investigating a murder charge is definitely unacceptable. We have also had instances, where a chief magistrate discharged an accessed person during the hearing of a bail application. These bad eggs in the judiciary must be shown the way out” the Attorney- General warned
