MOWAH DESCRIBES WOMEN AS SPIRITUAL STRENGTH OF HOMES, CHURCH

Women have been described as spiritual back bone for the growth and development of the family and the Church in general.

The Acting General Manager of DBS, Asaba, Sir Austin Mowah stated this during a seminar on Education, Physical and Spiritual Growth for the promotion of family unity organized by the Asaba regional Catholic Women Organization (CWO) at St. Anthony Chaplaincy, Anwai.

Sir Mowah in a welcome address said that women constituted about 70% of all the Church members, adding that they play a very vital role in the growth of both the family and the church, just as he maintained that they are very dedicated and prayerful.

He stressed on the role of Mary the mother of Jesus Christ, adding that the role she played in the Bible was an example of what every woman should do both in their respective homes and   in the church, noting that it was a great gift from God.

Sir Mowah acclaimed the fact that without women, life would not have been easy for the man, judging from the first couple on earth, Adam and Eve, and the companionship role the latter played.

Earlier in a speech the Asaba CWO Regional Organizer, Mrs. Patricia Adaeze Ideh, advised the members to be models of Godliness and make the difference right from the grassroots, stressing that everyone belonged to a family and that each family was a nucleus of the community, society, nation and the World at large.

She emphasized that Holy Mary obeyed God completely to be a “passage for the passengers” through the Power of the Holy Spirit towards the creation of the “Holy family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph”.

The Regional Organizer outlined the challenges of the organisation to include financial constraints, non active participation of most members in some parish events and activities and inadequate representation from the higher authorities.

Mrs. Ideh highlighted the achievements recorded by the CWO to include the sponsorship of 9 girl-child education to the National workshop at Benin and Bayelsa State, payment of out-standing debt, totalling N111, 000, adding that no parish was owing at the Diocesan level at present.

The occasion featured a film show on the life of Maria Gorretti, lectures on God’s promise for youths and on stress management, and awards of best couples to two couples.
