As the Federal and Delta State governments committ to end youth unemployment and its attendant ugly consequences, young Deltans were today exposed to entrepreneurial opportunites.
Young Deltans drawn from the three senatorial district of the state today, were sensitized on entrepreneurship opportunities designed in the third edition of Youwin.
The Federal ministry of Finance in partnership with Diasygo concepts limited today at Asaba, Delta State capital city, organized a one day sensitization workshop for young Deltans between 18 to 40 Years Old, who are post secondary school graduates.
The project tagged "Youwin Connect" is a Federal Government sponsored youth led entrepreneurship program, driven by innovative ideologies with a view at helping committed and result oriented young Deltans become employers of labour.
The over six hours workshop witnessed peaceful and active participation of youths in attendance.
According to the sensitization facilitator, Dr Gideon Osi, Youwin 3, is one of the federal government's youth focused development annual multimedia programs, set up to address core challenges militating against young entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
The workshop facilitator while sharing with young Deltans about the objectives of Youwin 3, noted that it is designed to spur entrepreneurial mindset amongst youths, support young entrepreneurs, promote entrepreneurship as a viable career option amongst young Nigerians.
Youwin 3 is also designed to prepare qualified ventures for funding opportunities, provide incentives for investors to fund small and medium-sized enterprises as well as create jobs in targeted sectors of national importance, Dr Osi stressed.
Youwin 3 target sectors include Agriculture/Agricultural processing; Information Communication Technology; Manufacturing/Retail; Construction and Fashion designs.
Dr Gideon Osi while helping young Deltans understand Youwin 3 application requirements, noted that the program is open to only Nigerian youths between 18-40 years old with post secondary school education, whose potential or existing businesses must be located in Nigeria.
Youwin 3 will not fund businesses involved in production and distribution of weapons; alcoholic beverages; tobacco or gambling business ventures.
Only business plans with innovative ideas for either start up or expansion will be considered, Dr Osi pointed out.
To qualify to benefit from Youwin 3, potential young entrepreneurs in Delta State were informed to submit their applications online at www.youwinconnect.org.ng .
Second and third stages required to qualify include: an online training cum assessment as well as a face to face training plus business plan submission.
Dr Osi informed young Deltans present that the Youwin 3 online portal will be open to potential young entrepreneurship applicants from July 24th, 2017.
Sharing thoughts with our reporter, Dr Osi noted that one of the cardinal aims of Youwin 3 is to eradicate unemployment in the nation.
Provided our youths are willing to embrace entrepreneurial opportunities that will employ three to five persons, the federal government is willing to creat an enabling environment for them to benefit from Youwin 3.
When asked about what political hurdles young Deltans will scale through to benefit from the program, Dr Osi indicated none and encouraged all qualified, committed and prepared active young Deltans apply, as they stand greater chances of being selected and empowered.
