ANTICULT VOLUNTEER CORPS CALL FOR THE BAN OF CANNON/FIREWORKS IN PUBLIC EVENTS..
Disturbed by the havoc wreaked on residences and participants at Ndokwa West PDP Local Government Council Elections campaign flag off rally by the shot of a cannon, The President ANTICULT VOLUNTEER CORPS Austyne Emu has called on the State Government to look into laws the use of cannon shots in public events as well as the controlling the importation and use of fireworks by Deltans with the aim to curbing the indiscriminate use of cannon and storage of firecrackers
This decision was reached in an emergency meeting held in the Headquarters of the AVC after Mr Jerry Ojugbeli a driver to the Deputy speaker of the Delta state House Assembly died from injuries sustained from a canon gun shot at the Ndokwa west PDP local Council Elections Campaign flag off rally at kwale on Thursday 22st December 2017 with many injured and properties destroyed.
According to him fire outbreak as a result from indiscriminate use and storage of fireworks is no more a sign for celebration but a gory to the society, noting that thursday ’s cannon incident was disastrous and tragic.
He urged state to look at laws on the use of cannon shots as well as fireworks, insisting that people now use cannon and store firecrackers indiscriminately, a practice he blamed for the disaster.
He said “We use cannon shots indiscriminately in this part of the world.
He also described as wrong the way residence use fire works indiscriminately
He urged the state to make a law that will curb the indiscriminate use of cannon shots in public places and storage of fireworks, adding that nowadays. “It is difficult to differentiate between the sound of a firecrackers and a bomb,” said

Following the issue on ground Dr Agboro Andrew,the Executive Director of the Gender Justice Department of the Anticult Volunteer Corps call on all Deltans particularly shop owners, to desist from storing explosives at home “and those who deal in this kind of business should not stockpile them where people are residing.
He also urge the legal department of the Delta State House of Assembly to look at the law that has to do with fireworks order to facilitate working on the indiscriminate use.
