INEC SET TO RAISE ELECTORAL AWARENESS IN DELTA STATE

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has inaugurated
inter-agency advisory committee on voters Education and Publicity in Delta
State with the objective of eliciting and raising public awareness and interest
in the electoral process towards a credible election in 2015.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony in Sapele, Electoral Officer in the
Headquarters of Sapele Local Government Area, Mrs Fidelia Omolie stated that it
is imperative that INEC strive to boost voters education and reduce ignorance
on electoral matters as  preparation for Local Government election in October and the general election in 2015.

The Head of Department Voter’s Education, Mr. Livy Unigwe briefed
Committee members on the general principles and direction of the Commission’s
news initiative to establish the National Inter-Agency Advisory Committee on
Voter’s Education and Publicity.

The Committee which has three sub-committees is comprised of National
Orientation Agency, National Youths Service Corps, Nigerian Bar Association, media
organization among others.
