SENATOR PETER NWAOBOSHI ACHIEVES A MAJOR LEGISLATIVE MILESTONE AS THE PRESIDENT ASSENTS TO THE NDDC ACT (AMENDED)
Yesterday, the 29th day of December, 2017, President Muhammad Buhari assented the NDDC Act (amended).
The law before it was amended by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, legally gave most Oil Companies, particularly the NLNG, a window of escape, in terms of payments/contributions to the coffers of NDDC. The legal battle that ensued between NLNG and the NDDC went as far as the Supreme Court of Nigeria. The skewed nature and inadequacies of the Act before amendment threw the weight of legal opinions of the lower courts and appellate court and even to the Supreme Court in favour of NLNG.
The resolution which this Amended Act, sponsored by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, sought to achieve and has achieved, is to ensure the total stoppage of various loopholes that allowed NLNG and most Oil Companies the opportunity to escape from fulfilling their social content/environmental responsibilities to the host communities.
It is crystal clear that the good people of Delta North Senatorial District have a golden voice in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. It is vivid that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is waxing stronger with each passing day both in the duty of quality bills that will positively touch the lives of the electorates as well as attracting the spoils of democracy to the electorates.
God Bless Delta North!
God Bless Senator Peter Nwaoboshi!!
