XTIANS TOLD TO INTERNALIZE LESSONS OF XMAS AS DELTA LIAISON OFFICE HOLDS MAIDEN NINE LESSONS, CAROLS

Christians have been called upon to emphasize to  to internalize the spiritual lessons of the Yuletide season.

The Director and Liaison Officer of the Delta State Liaison Office, Lagos, Dr Anthony Nwokolobia stated this during the maiden edition of 2017 Nine Lessons and Carols organized by the Delta State Liaison Office, Lagos.

Dr Nwokolobia said that every year all over the world Christmas was celebrated, saying that this means journey with Christ in this period of advent and the expectation of the coming of our Saviour.

“We all know that our Lord Jesus is the reason for the season and having taken us all through the year from January to December, it is inevitable, unavoidable, important, fundamental, and basic that we celebrate him.”

He said that this practice of celebrating the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was done in Delta State and so, observing it at the Liaison Office in Lagos was a way of connecting with the staff of Delta State back home in Asaba and their counterpart elsewhere, even as he enjoined the staff to celebrate and be bond together.

The exhortation of the day which was taken by Pastor (Mrs) Julie Otoikhine, of The Press Unit, Delta Liaison Office, on the topic “A Time with the King” quoting Esther chapter 5 verses 1-3, described the Golden Scepter King Xerxes offered to Esther as a Sign of Mercy.

Pastor (Mrs) Otoikhine said “Jesus Christ is God’s Golden Scepter and His only legal means of offering mercy to man.”

Pastor Otoikhine encouraged staff to respond positively like Esther, “To reach out, touch and accept Christ as God’s Scepter of Mercy” Saying that God is ready to grant the deepest heart desires even as they make their request known to Him for He has promised to show His mercy.

The event featured the reading of Nine Lessons from the Scriptures by Mr Pessu Gabriel the Chief Accountant, Mrs Layegue Elizabeth among others drawn from different department. The lessons were accompanied cheerfully with Carols taken by all staff.

Present at the occasion was Mr Avwode Augustine, the Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Media (Lagos/Abuja Liaison Offices) who confirmed that the event was worthwhile as there was no dull moment.

Highpoints of the event were feasting, dancing and praising God for a joy filled year.
