ENGR JUAN GOVERNOR PLEADS FOR PEACE BETWEEN IBEDENI AND OYEDE COMMUNITIES.

The PDP Chairmanship candidate for Ndokwa East LGA have pleaded with Ibedeni community in Ndokwa East LGA and Oyede community in Isoko North LGA to sheath their sword and embrace peace. He made this appeal when he visited the palace of the Ogene of Ibedeni today 17th of December 2017. "As a leader, I had to act fast in order to prevent the situation from degenerating further and to initiate a dialogue process." He pleaded for peace to prevail and for them to give dialogue a chance.

Both communities gave their own versions of how the crisis started. It will be recalled that this same issue is before a customary court in Ashaka. The issue surround the ownership of "Okoro-amam" community popularly called "Okrama" for short. "On hearing about the crisis I decided to visit Ibedeni community to attend the peace talk in order to assure them of my sincerity of restoring lasting peace to these communities especially as my LGA is affected."

The incoming chairman of Ndokwa East LGA, successfully initiated a peace process between both communities as they both agreed to meet at the palace of the Ovie of Oleh on a later date to further dialogue on a lasting solution. They both had to settle for a neutral place for the peace meeting. Speaking further, he said both communities have lived together for years and have intermarried, this alone should encourage them to embrace peace

The President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU) was present in the meeting. Hon (Mrs) Matilda Prosper-Onyemgba, the councillorship candidate of PDP for Ibedeni was also in the meeting.
