ARTICULATE IDEAS THAT WOULD ENHANCE DEVELOPMENT’’ UDUAGHAN CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS

The 2012 Batch A Corps members deployed to Delta State have been charged to articulate ideas, and programmes that would enhance socio- economic growth and development of Nigeria.

The Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who gave the charge at the official swearing in ceremony of the corps members at the NYSC permanent Orientation Camp at Issele- Uku, reminded them of the need to checkmate the increasing rate of insecurity, youth unemployment, growing crime rate as well as the general societal decay.

Dr. Uduaghan, who was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Professor Amos Utuama (SAN), enjoined the corps members to contribute to the development and transformation of the rural areas by embarking on the projects that would be beneficial to their host communities, just as he reiterated the state government’s tradition of acknowledging and rewarding outstanding performance of corps members in all facets of service to the state.
The State Chairman, NYSC Governing Board, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay who is also the Secretary to Delta State Government represented by Dr. Chris Ukpe, however urged the corps members to emulate our founding fathers, whose creative ideas for a better Nigeria had ensured the sustenance of the country, saying that they should take every aspect of the orientation exercise very seriously.

Earlier in an address, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Chris Mgbemena thanked the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for his numerous contributions towards the actualisation of the scheme’s objectives in the state.

He appealed for improved facilities on the camp, saying that most of the existing structures that were not touched during the first phase of renovation were already out of use, adding that the few good ones that were renovated were being over stretched.

A total of 2,606 corps members were sworn in consisting of 1,388 males and 1,218 females.
