UDUAGHAN COMMENDS PARTY FAITHFULS FOR UNITY, ENJOINS THEM TO SHUN FACTIONS



 
  The Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has enjoined party faithful not to allow any faction exist in the party again.
Dr. Uduaghan, who gave the advice recently at the end of the state congress in Asaba, said that PDP in the state was now one big united family in a free moving train.
He said that the successful conclusion of the congress was an eloquent testimony that there were no longer factions in the party and expressed the hope that the gains achieved would be sustained.
His words “There is no more faction in PDP. Nobody will say l belong to Dr. Uduaghan faction or Chief E.K. Clark faction, we are now one. There is now peace and unity in the party.”
While describing the congress as a peaceful one, the governor called on all those elected not to betray the confidence repose on them and he charged the new executives to build on the gains made in order to win more members for the party.
He said that the PDP Umbrella was large enough to accommodate various interests and urged the new executives not to treat those who returned back to the party shabbily.
Addressing journalist in Asaba, the governor commended the efforts of late Otobo peace mending committee for resolving frictions within the party from the ward to the local government and state executives.
Dr. Uduaghan said that hard work done by the committee united the party more than ever before and made the state congress to be so successful.
“I give credit to Late Chief Otobo, who tried his best to resolve the conflicts and differences existing in the party through the peace committee and did a good job.”
He also disclosed that stakeholders in the party had sleepless nights adding that they had conceded to various shades of opinion before nominating those who were voted for in the new state executives.  
While commending the state governor, Dr. Uduaghan for the purposeful leadership especially for achieving unity in the party, the chairman of the electoral panel, Dr. Anne Ukpo, described the peaceful atmosphere in the state before the election as superlative.
Her words “I commend PDP leaders in Delta State especially the governor for this peaceful atmosphere we enjoy today. I want to thank Deltans for giving peace a chance, l am happy that PDP in the state is now speaking with one voice.”
She continued “This peace in the party is good for the progress of the party, for giving peace a chance l believe that PDP in Delta State will be a shiny example to other states in the zone.”
Dr. Ukpo, however, called on party stakeholders in the state to give women a chance saying that in the 29 member executive only few women were elected.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the party, Chief Peter Nwaboshi promised that he would not disappoint them, adding that he would continue to move the party forward in the state.
He expressed appreciation to all party faithful especially for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the elections.
“I am indeed very grateful to all Party members for the peaceful way the election was conducted. I want to assure you that this new executive will not disappoint you.”
The PDP party state congress produced 29 member executive among whom were Chief Peter Nwaboshi – Chairman, Chief Solomon Ogba- Secretary among others.
