ANTI MEDICAL QUAKERY BILL PASSED INTO LAW...


The bill to end medical quakery in Delta State was passed by the Delta State House of Assembly today at plenary.

The bill which is cited as " Delta State Private Health Care Facilities (Registration, Operations and Prohibition) Law and aims to curb unhealthy practices in the health sector is the brainchild of the only medical doctor to be elected into the Delta State House of Assembly and member representing Ukwuani State Constituency, Hon. Dr. A.C. Ojo.

The law which comprehensively seek to regulate all facets of the health sector to adhere strictly to international best practices and reduce the incidence of quackery in the sector is expected to be used to safeguard the health of all Deltans.

Dr. Ojo speaking after the passage of the bill thanked the speaker and the whole House as well as his Co-Sponsors of the bill stating that the bill was long overdue and was not meant to witchhunt anybody or profession but is rather meant to instill professional discipline amongst the various segments of the health sector. He noted that state stands to benefit greatly from such a law as the bill will help reduce incidences of quackery in the health sector in the state.
