MINISTRY TAKES DELIVERY OF EQUIPMENT TO BOOST DATA MANAGEMENT IN WATER SECTOR
The Delta State Government Water Resources Development said it has recorded giant strides through the delivery of high powered equipment to the to boost effective and efficient management of data services as well as documentation and record keeping purposes in the water supply sector in the state.
The ministry said that, the equipment when installed, would enable the Delta State ministry of Water Resources Development ascertain the quality and quantity of Water distribution, status of functionality, number of Water schemes cross the state on daily basis electronically as well as serve as an interface between the ministry and its various parastals.
Receiving the equipment, the State Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Sir Fidelis tilije said that the data centre would play critical role in the actualization of the objective of ministry which is anchored on the provision of sustainable and potable water supply and hygiene in the state.
Sir tilije, represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the ministry, Mrs. Oghenekevwe Agas who reiterated that through the partnership with the European Union, the equipment were procured said that the machine which comprised hard and software would be used to access Water consumption and water schemes in the state.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Integrated Utilities System Ltd, Mr. Ndubuisi Uka and the Chief Operations Officer of the company, Mr. Hussaini Yakubu said that the supply of the equipment was in tandem with the European Union contract which the company was executing. Mr. Ndubuisi Uka and Hussaini Yakubu stated that at the end of installation and capacity building programme that would be conducted very soon, Delta State would be able to manage its water being produced the distributed to the people and track defaulters of water consumption across the state just as the duo maintained that the Data Centre was the first of its kind in Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, the General Manager of the Delta State Water Board, Mr. Nosa Okoh said that the Centre would facilitate water enumeration, quality and quantity of the water schemes in the state, adding that the platform would also ascertain the status of the various water facilities and the quantity of consumption
