World Water Day Celebration

Kevwe Oghide

CODE attended Wateraid’s Stakeholder’s Forum to identify areas of collaboration for the promotion of access to safe water, ending open defecation, and leaving no one behind.

#LeaveNoOneBehind.

The right to a clean and safe Environment should be regarded as a basic human right and as such every citizen should be entitled.

The government should be held accountable in terms of investment and support towards universal access to safe water and improved sanitation in our communities.

A new national survey has shown that about 130 million Nigerians live without access to improved sanitation even as it revealed that Nigeria loses N455 billion annually due to poor sanitation.

The effects of poor environmental sanitation, ranging from human diseases, poor overall human health and economic disadvantages as well as social disadvantages, cannot be over-emphasized.

Every Nigerian deserves a safe and healthy environment.
