GOV OKOWA'S STRONGER DELTA VISION IS TO CONSOLIDATE ON THE HUGE SUCCESS OF THE SMART AGENDA - FRED OGHENESIVBE.

...SAYS SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS OF DELTA STATE SHALL RECEIVE A MAJOR BOOST BETWEEN 2019 AND 2023.

Executive Assistant on Communications to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has said that the second tenure of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, shall spring pleasant socioeconomic surprises under a new economic growth vision tagged "Stronger Delta."

He gave the assurance while speaking as a guest on Delta Rainbow Television (DRTV) public affairs live programme "Focus" anchored by Mrs Mercy Muebifo.

Oghenesivbe asserted that Delta State has experienced remarkable transformation in all sectors of the state economy and it is a welcome development for a visionary leader in the person of Gov Okowa and his team to develop new policies and programmes as well as socioeconomic growth strategies that will further better the living condition of the good people of Delta State.

He said Gov Okowa came up with the "Stronger Delta" vision as a deliberate and well thought out economic growth action plan to accelerate state socioeconomic remodelling, people oriented, people focused policies and programmes anchored on sustainable development, transparency in governance, accountability across board and prudent management of resources for a more prosperous, economically stable and stronger Delta State.

Oghenesivbe, a full member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and a Barrister-at-Law, posited that the landmark achievements of Okowa administration within the past three years and ten months in the area of human capital development, jobs and wealth creation as well as sports development; attracted numerous awards for the governor, international goodwill, friendship and development partnership for the state.

He further disclosed that the tremendous success of this administration attracted two key major global financial and entrepreneurship giants as can be seen from the World Bank and Tony Elumelu Foundation financial assistant for the expansion of YAGEP and STEP vocational, skills training and empowerment programmes under the SMART Agenda.

"It follows that the idea behind the 'Stronger Delta' vision is to attract Direct Foreign Investment (DFI), grow the state economy through multifaceted strategies. For example, government is determined to attract foreign airlines to commence international commercial and cargo flights operations into Asaba International Airport, so as to earn more revenue for government and at the same time create more jobs and enhance Delta global image.

"The agricultural sector will receive a boost and the modular refineries are expected to commence production, create value chain of products with the multiple effect of jobs and wealth creation, earn tax revenue and other financial benefits for government, thereby making Delta State stronger socioeconomically," Oghenesivbe said.
