2018 THIRD PHASE OF PUPILS FEEDING PROGRAMME COMMENCED IN WARRI NORTH

The third phase of the federal and state pupils feeding programme has commenced in Warri North Council Area.

The programme is meant to cater for the lunch needs of pupils in primary1-3, and formally began in the area in the third term of the 2016/2017 academic session.

Speaking on the commencement of the programme yesterday, the headmistress of Akuarajor Primary School, Koko, Mrs

Bamgbose, said that the three caterers who were assigned to cook for her school had all turned up for the programme this term.

She stated that the number of pupils benefiting from the program was dependent on the amount of funds allocated to the local government from the state, noting that it varies from 130 to 100 as the case may be.

One of the caterers assigned to the school, Mrs. Queen Okotie, who spoke on the feeding time for the school, said emphasis was placed on the nutritional value of every meal.

The schedule of meal weekly indicated that the pupils would be served yam porridge mixed with pumpkin leaves on Mondays, noodles with fried egg and pineapple juice for Tuesdays, while fish yam porridge is for Wednesdays; noodles with fried egg and watermelon dessert for Thursdays; and jollof rice with diced meat is served to the pupils on Fridays.
