A Non Government Organization, Foundation for Effective Leadership & Development (FELD), today, Thursday, at Asaba laid the ground-works for commencement of their empowerment programs in Oshimili South LGA.
Addressing potential beneficiaries drawn from 11 wards within the council area, the foundation's chairman, Hon Paul Adingwupu, shared that now is time for the less privileged in Oshimili South LGA to benefit from the foundation's program.
In the first phase of our employment program, we will empower 30 less privileged persons to be identified by your ward coordinators, these persons will benefit from our empowerment programs.
We intend to empower rural farmers, traders, disadvantaged women, unemployed youths and other vulnerable persons within your local government area.
Unemployed youths will be engaged in skill acquisition programs, after which they will be given starters pack, funds to procure needed equipment and aided with adequate market penetration opportunities.
We will give out grants to our rural farmers, traders and artisans, to support their enterprise, Hon Paul Adingwupu said.
The foundation's boss informed all present that the grant and other empowerment opportunities are not loan schemes and not repayable.
I want you to judiciously use the grant and supports we provide to develop your businesses and use the proceeds to better support your family's basic needs.
Any LGA or Ward coordinator, who defraud any of you, upon my notice of such, will no longer be a member of this foundation, Hon Paul Adingwupu highlighted.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of ward coordinators by the LGA Coordinator, Hon Victor Okocha and presentation of mobile phones to the ward coordinators by the foundation's chairman, to enable easy flow of communication within the foundation.
The foundation was established in 2011 with a view to pursue the vision of sustainable development and good governance, as well as create opportunities for positive engagement of the people to ensure a safe and progressive society.
