The
Chairperson of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi
Olejeme have called on social and philanthropic organizations to use their
various bodies as a veritable channel to promote unity and culture among
various ethnic groups in the state.
Dr.
Olejeme said this at her installation ceremony, as patroness to Asaba Ladies League
International recently in Asaba at the 2013 end-of-year activity of the group,
that social and philanthropic organizations are veritable avenues and agents of
development which should help in complementing government’s development
efforts.
She
stated that it was not possible for the government to provide all the required
infrastructural amenities which communities need, hence it was imperative that
both social and philanthropic organizations should partner with government in
actualizing the (3) Point Agenda of the state government.
Dr.
Ngozi Olejeme gave accolades to Governor Uduaghan for ensuring that peace,
harmony and mutual relationship existed among the various ethnic groups in the
state, saying it was an eloquent testimony of the government ability to bring
the people of Delta together irrespective of tribal or religion affiliations.
She
urged Nigerians to support the present democratic government in the country
under President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that Jonathan is a good leader who
has the interest of the people he leads at heart.
The chairman of the occasion, Engr. Okwudalue commended the group and the Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien for upholding the rich cultural and traditional values of Asaba as well as ensuring that the people lived in harmony and mutual co-existence.
Speaking,
the National president of the Asaba Ladies league, Chief (Lady) Rose Nwosu
narrated how their club was formed in Lagos by their selves efforts and through
the effort of some Asaba men and other public-spirited individuals.
Lady
Nwosu stated that Dr. Ngozi Olejeme’s contribution to the wellbeing of widows,
market woman, graduates and displaced youths in the country and most
importantly, Ngozi’s values for the rich cultural heritage of the Asaba people
had informed the club’s decision to install her as patroness of their group.
Hear
her: “we don’t eat the human flesh, but we embrace the human mind based on
their good virtues”.
She
enjoined Mrs. Olejeme not to relent on her good efforts at improving lives
adding that posterity shall reward her for her good works to mankind.
The
guest speaker, Dr. (Mrs.) Felicia Okogba called on the group to make sure they
render selfless service to the ‘poorest of the poor’ citing the life of a
Catholic Reverend Sister, Mother Teresa of Calcutta as an example of a woman
who dedicated her life in serving the poor.
Dr. Okogba who took her text from Genesis 2:7, James 4:14 and Matthew 5:7 compared Dr. Ngozi Olejeme as a woman following after the footprints of mother Teresa, adding that Ngozi has a generous heart that has led to the “fulfillment of the aspirations of many people across the federation.
Earlier
the president of Asaba branch, Mrs. Felicia Ogosi thanked Dr. Ngozi Olejeme for
her philanthropic work to indigenes and non-indigene of Asaba by way of job
creation and widows who received succor from her, describing her as a role
model for every woman in Nigeria.
Mrs.
Ogosi called on political office holders to live up to their billing by
ensuring that they fulfill their electioneering promises to better the lives of
their people, adding that such will give them the confidence to seek a
re-election.
Highlights
of the occasion was the installation of Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Olejeme as a Patroness
of the group and was given merit award by its National President, Chief (Lady)
Rose Nwosu with the support of Mrs. Ogosi and others who were well-dressed in
their traditional white attire with pink head ties to match.
The
ceremony was well attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, including the
Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof.) Edozien represented by Ogbueshi Ndili; Chief
Allanah Ngozi and the PDP ward 6 Chairman in Asaba, Prince Pan Ofulue (Panco)
traditional Chiefs and eminent personalities. The Aguba traditional dancing
group was at hand to add pep to the occasion.
