Traditional Burial Rites: How C.Y Okonta and His Brethrens Celebrated Their Late Father's Life of Honor & Achievement

COMMENCEMENT OF TRADITIONAL BURIAL CEREMONY

According to Asaba Tradition, traditional burial ceremony commences with ( IKEDO AKWA NA ISI ADA NA DIOPKA) the identification, separation and turbaning or tieing with ribbon the heads of the departed's first Son and Daughter ( Diokpa na Ada), on the evening of the interment of the departed.

The above rite is always performed by the villages's or large family's ADA ISI ( Most times, it performed by the oldest of the family or who the celebrants deem fit to touch their head or who their trust and could exercise greater confidence in).

Same evening, the Ada in company of other umuada from her village will perform the IMA PU AGOGO rite at the village's entry point, this is to ceremonially inform all in the village that her family has officially started their traditional burial rites and thereby inviting all to join her family in the ceremony.

Burial Reception: When C.Y Okonta Hosted Friends, Associates and Family Membes After His Late Father's Interment

No better words can describe how C.Y. Okonta paid last respect to his late father than an expression that is wrapped up thus, better still, one of the sympathizers, Mr Chike Nwokolo summed it all up thus.

That C. Y Okonta gave his late father a well befitting burial is an under statement in my words, if there is how more to describe what C.Y Okonta did today, that woulld have being a better expression.

Today is indeed a great and remarkable day, Mr. Chike Nwokolo observed.

In all honesty, C.Y has done mavelously today, you can see all went well, the whole event was well attended and our people had enough to eat and dine with.

Of a truth, i applaud the Okonta Family for their support and acting as a one united family, their action and response to family matters is a huge lesson for other Asaba Families, Mr Nwokolo noted.
