PRESS STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND CULTURE, ALHAJI LAI MOHAMMED

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE  MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND CULTURE, ALHAJI LAI MOHAMMED, ON WEDNESDAY, 24 JAN. 2018

We have read the press statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the State of the Nation.

For the record, Chief Obasanjo is a patriot, and he has proven this time and time again. We appreciate what he said concerning the Administration's performance in two out of the three key issues that formed the plank of its campaign: Fighting corruption and tackling insurgency. Specifically, the former President said President Buhari must be given credit for his achievement so far in these two areas. We thank him for this.

Apparently, the former President believes that the Administration does not deserve a pass mark in the area of the economy, which is the third of our three-pronged campaign promises.

We have no doubt that in the face of massive challenges in this area, this Administration has availed itself creditably. We believe that Chief Obasanjo, incase  of his very busy schedule, may not have been fully availed of developments in the government's efforts to revamp the economy, which was battered by the consequences of over-dependence on a commodity as well as unprecedented pillaging of the treasury.

Today, most of the indices by which an economy is measured are looking up. Permit me to say, however, that Nigeria would not have exited recession through a mere order or if the Administration had not made use of ''good Nigerians'' who could help.

This Administration is making steady progress in its determined effort to revamp the economy, and the results are showing:

* Foreign Reserves have peaked at $40b, the highest level in about four years, and up from $24 billion just a year ago, even though when we came in, the price of oil had crashed woefully.

* According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBC), headline inflation has fallen for 11 consecutive months, standing at 15.37% as at Dec. 2017. This is the lowest inflation rate since Jan 2017, and it has met and surpassed the target set for inflation in the Administration's Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).

* Our determined implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has stopped the hemorrhaging of the treasury. Some 108 billion Naira has been saved from removal of maintenance fees payable to banks, pre-TSA. The nation is being saved 24.7 billion Naira monthly with the full implementation of the TSA.

*  The elimination of ghost workers has saved the nation 120 billion Naira

*   At about 1.8 billion dollars, the capital inflows in the second quarter of 2017 were almost double the $908 million in the first quarter.

*  In the wake of a stable Naira and increased investment inflows, Nigeria’s stock market emerged one of the best-performing in the world, delivering returns in excess of 40 percent.

*  Nigeria rose 24 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking, and earned a place on the List of Top 10 Reformers in the world.

* According to Q3 2017 figures, agriculture export is up year-on-year by 25%, solid minerals exports are up year-on-year by 78%, raw materials exports are up 70% year-on-year and manufactured goods exports are up 22% year-on-year.

* Government agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service are reporting highest-ever revenue collection, while JAMB, under the new management appointed by President Buhari in 2016, remitted N7.8 billion to the coffers of the federal government. The total amount remitted by JAMB between 2010 and 2016 was a paltry N51 million!

These positive indices may not have immediately impacted positively on Nigerians, but Nigerians will definitely get a new lease of life a short while from now. This is because the good news from the agricultural sector, which is recording a bumper harvest, will bring down the cost of foodstuffs, especially such staple as rice, and our massive Social Investment Programme will ease the pain of the most vulnerable in the society.

When we assumed office in 2015, some 6 million farmers were involved in rice production. Thanks to the Anchor Borrowers' programme of this Administration, we have grown that number to over 12 million farmers. The result is that our rice import from Thailand alone has dropped from 644 metric tonnes to 22,000 MT in just two years. This is phenomenal.

Apart from rice, Nigeria is also doing well in other grains,
especially Millet, Sorghum and Maize. We are now the second largest producer of sorghum after the US, the third in millet after India and our breweries are now enjoying local sourcing of those commodities.

For maize, we are producing 10 million tons while we need about 13 million tons for both human and animal nutrition. Nigeria leads the world in the yam and cassava production. We account for 70% of the world's yam production. In two years, we hope to be the world's largest exporter of yam! Overall, our ambition is that agriculture should rise from 25% to 40% of GDP, so that we can banish poverty and overcome our economic anxiety.

Our Social Investment Programme is Nigeria’s most ambitious social welfare programme ever. Currently, 5.2 million primary school children in 28,249 schools in 19 states are being fed daily; 200,000 unemployed graduates have enlisted into the N-power Job Scheme, and a quarter of a million loans already distributed to artisans, traders, and farmers.

Finally, our investment in infrastructure is simply unprecedented. This is because infrastructure is key to faster economic growth and development.

Here is a synopsis of what we have done in this area:

* Power Generation at an all-time high of 7,000mw and all can be transmitted

* RAIL: Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge is on. Lagos-Ibadan sector ready 2019, Kano-Kaduna ready 2019; The entire stretch ready 2021; Negotiations on for Coastal Rail covering 15 cities from Lagos to Calabar.

* ROAD: 25 major highways being funded with the N100b Sukuk Bond, and all geo-political zones are benefitting equally

This Administration is not unaware of the enormity of the challenges facing the nation, but we are up to the task. We have taken the bull by the horns, and long-suffering Nigerians will begin to experience a new lease of life as our efforts yield fruits. We will not go into a state of funk for whatever reason.

On the Herders/Farmers' clashes, this Administration is determined to end the crisis resulting from this once and for all, not minding the fact that the clashes predate us. we urge Nigerians to have faith in the Administration's ability to resolve the crisis, and to watch out for concrete measures in this regard.

On whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari should run for another term, it is true that many Nigerians have been calling on the President to run again, while others are opposed to his return. However, we believe this issue is a distraction for the President at this time. This is because Mr. President spends every waking hour tackling the enormous challenges facing the nation, most of which were bequeathed to his Administration by successive past Administrations. He is committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him by Nigerians in 2015. And that's where we are right now!

Finally, we have no reason to believe that former President Obasanjo has any motive beyond the well-being of the nation in issuing his Special Press Statement. We have also taken his admonition in good faith, and we thank him most sincerely for taking time off his busy schedule to pen such a long statement.

Bero replies FG on its response to OBJ's letter.

I have read your response to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and it nothing more than your usual propaganda and lies from the pit of hell. Let me use some of the prognosis of your administration vis-a-vis the many lies told in reponse to the former President.

For the records,  in one of your paragraphs you made claims on the defeat of insurgencies. I make bold to say that we need no deep perusal to evaluate your recent action on the demand for another $1 Billion to persecute the same war against insurgency you claimed to have eliminated. Can we just accept you are indirectly telling us this is to fight the menace in the middle belt. Quite a sensible claim if it is but trust me that would not fly.

You also claimed to have fought corruption to a stand still but the records are clear and apparent. There are various corruption allegation in your cabinet that goes unchecked. Perhaps the one asking 'Who is the Presidency'. The absconded Maina and your AGF using court order to stop the Senate hearing. Don't lose sight of your MD at NNPC who single handedly approved contact above his limits. Just so many and the Ikoyi funds.

On the Economy, you have continued to make reference to the increase in the foreign reserve wherein one of your ministers have alleged that no capital project in the 2017 budget was executed. And for a focused and strategic nation in planning and execution, at least it is important to roll over project from previous years into the new one. Neither the previous nor current has seen a logical conclusion. Ore to sagamu, Sagamu to Ibadan all still pending.
And I ask, if you are not executing and not expending on projects, one can equally conclude that you should have a reasonable savings. But of course whatever you are running from, you would definitely come to meet it. Mind you, as a trained certified Engineer and economist, the wear and tear of alternatives roads would only absolve more beyond limits such that what you would have used or expend would be regrettable simply because you were half smart.

You have continued to talk about your exit from recession but can you just keep quiet already.

The recession was your making and it is still fragile despite its exit. I made reference to the fragility and recently IMF confirmed my fears. Obasanjo in response clearly confirmed that you don't understand the internal politics of this country.  And that's why it is silly to think you would pounce on the Niger Delta region that feeds the nation. Hence your carelessness that led to a one year shutdown of Forcadoes Terminal.  That terminal supplies the international market nearly 800 thousand barrels of oil daily.  It was the most stupid war you got into. Yaradua was smarter than you!

You keep talking about TSA and the many reforms the previous government initiated as if it is your making. Just tell us one initiative we can tag to your administration. As usual you are an opportunist. Always riding on the potential of others. Idiagbon was a star you rode on.

You keep talking about ghost workers. You need to keep shut about this. It is not your policy perhaps idea but that of a brilliant Ngozi okonjo Nweal  who design integrated payroll system (IPPS) which has continued to eliminate ghost workers.

1.8 billion capital inflow claim. Just keep quiet and reflect on the more than triple that amount that left our country through your bad exchange policy which OBJ claimed your government even enjoyed its round tripping. You intentionally induced that to favor your cronies.

About ease of doing business. It is more indicative that I was eager to start up a farming business under the previous administration. However, by your policy and silly actions, I have been on pause.  I have a brother in the aviation industry whose business collapesed. How many international flight do we still have flying straight to United States? In 2015 I flew direct to Texas on United Airlines. Today they don't operate in Nigeria because of your bad policy.

In Agriculture, you lied! The many achievements and cerebral policies of Akiwunmi Adesina is still very much around
Cassava wheat bread still very much around
Walk into shop rite,  you would still see the effect of the backward integration policy.

I think I don't need to respond to all your claims. The court of the citizens is open to judge you and that is if they have had dinner or lunch to have that strength to tell you these facts. Oh! They just brought my light since yesterday.  Been burning fuel like am preparing hell fire for rogues in your government.  Stop the lies!

Atiku visits Ekiti, consults Fayose

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakarwas in Ekiti State on Wednesday ostensibly to consult with Governor Ayodele Fayose and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, on his presidential ambition in 2019.

Atiku, while being received at the Government House, Oke Ayoba in AdoEkiti, said Ekiti was the first state he was visiting “to consult with our party members since my return home to PDP.”

He said his choosing Ekiti as first wasbecause of his long-standing relationship with Governor Fayose, whom he described as “a sharpshooter when he makes his political targets and he hardly misses his target,” and added that “apart from that, he’s also the chairman of our Governors Forum.

”He commended Fayose for the development of infrastructure in the state and noted that Fayose “has a lotto offer our party and in our country.

”At separate interviews, the duo said former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s statement on President Muhammadu Buhari had confirmed that the All Progressives Congress-led government had failed.

Atiku said, “I won’t comment on the letter but it is a confirmation that the APC has failed this country. That party is not the solution to our country’s challenges.

”He hinted that he would discuss his ambition with the governor whom he described as a force to reckon with in the PDP.The former VP, who appreciated Fayose’s warm reception at the AkureAirport, said, “He (Fayose) calls the shots and when he does so, we all take the cue.

“This is not surprising as Fayose and Ihad struck a good relationship since his first tenure as governor and I was the VP.  He is blunt and straightforward, a sharpshooter in politics and I respect him for that.“But above all, he is also the chairmanof our Governors’ Forum.

Today among the governors, among the party generally, he calls the shots and when he does so, we all take the cue.”Fayose said the party’s interest wouldbe placed above individual aspiration in choosing a candidate for the 2019 elections.

The governors added, “He (Atiku) has not spoken to me privately about it, and maybe he would do that in our private meeting. But his body language obviously shows he has an ambition which is legitimate.“We will all examine everybody and we will create a level playing field.

As he has come, others will still come.“On the issue of being Vice-President, like I said, in the Book of Ezekiel 37: 33, the Bible says ‘God asks that can this bone live?, and the Prophet answers and says Thou knoweth.

All these questions are questions for God and He has answers for them, man has no answer. You may wish anything for me, but God’s wish is supreme.“I deserve to serve this country as President. I have paid my due. I am not a hidden voice. I have all it takes to lead this country, but whichever way it goes, the interest of our party comes first; it is above our individual aspirations.

Whoever the party finally picks as the party’s candidate will be supported by others.”Fayose said he was not disappointed about Obasanjo’s outburst against Buhari’s government.“I am not disappointed because I never voted for Buhari and I will never stop being against him.

I was not too young when Buhari came first time and we knew the hell he took us through.“At his first time, he was putting people in jail and he was not in chargeit was (Brig. Gen. Tunde) ldiagbon that was in charge.

The man is dark inthe mind,” he stated. The governor lamented that the economy had collapsed by 45 per cent and the President had failed to tame the Fulani herdsmen.

“Now the message has come from Obasanjo, who was Buhari’s  greatest promoter and  navigator, telling him togo home.“The end has come to the APC, our suppressors and oppressors.  You can only rule a country as diverse as Nigeria if you are truly a leader,” Fayose added.

NIGERIA THIRD FORCE MOVEMENT ROLLS OUT ACTION PLANS FOR 2019 ELECTIONS

PRESS STATEMENT

Wednesday, 17th January 2018

NIGERIA THIRD FORCE MOVEMENT ROLLS OUT ACTION PLANS FOR 2019 ELECTIONS

The Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM), a Pro democracy Movement and Pressure Group of like-minded Nigerians who are committed to changing the political order, which has failed to fashion a Nigeria that works for all is conceived as the THIRD POLITICAL FORCE to rescue Nigeria from corrupt and inert political leadership and system by the year 2019

NIM is concerned that the political elite, since independence and particularly since the exit of the military from visible power in 1999, has proved that it is ill-equipped and unprepared for the challenge of transforming our nation from its underdeveloped status to one that is prosperous and can create a veritable environment for the realization of its citizens’ potentials and well-being

It is clear that the political elite, as currently represented by the 2 dominant political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) among others have failed Nigerians for lack of clear Ideology and principle on how to run the country

Concerned that left to their schemes and antics this class of entrenched leaders will lead Nigeria into a state of indescribable human misery characterized by death, hunger, disease, illiteracy and manipulation, therefore the NIM being unable to continue to stand aloof has decided to create a THIRD POLITICAL FORCE, a platform to mobilise all citizens of goodwill and conscience towards engendering a new political system and culture in Nigeria capable of bringing about the desired opportunities for all to actualize their dreams and potentialities; a nation where no man or group is oppressed.

To this end, NIM is presenting to all Nigerian citizens at home and in the diaspora, a road map towards achieving the political alternative to the existing vision less, ill-equipped and unprepared political leadership and order in Nigeria. We call particularly all Nigerian youths, women and the vulnerable to urgently heed this call by joining and supporting the agenda and road map of NIM adopted on Tuesday, 9th January, 2018 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

This is no doubt, a revolutionary Time Table of Action, which profoundly tallies with the milestones contained in the 2019 elections Time table released later that same day by the INEC. For we are very confident that Nigerians can together end the misery of the past 19 years and give to themselves a nation of their own making and dream with the action plan attached below:

The leadership of the NIM is made up of Nigerians with rich pedigrees and credible profile from across political, ethnic, regional and religious divides of the country. Below are the Protem Officers of the NIM:

Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN - Co-Chair

Letter to Buhari: IPOB hails Obasanjo, mocks Igbo leaders

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Wednesday hailed a former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, for his courage to condemn certain misdeeds of the Muhammadu Buhari government.

The group described Obasanjo’s admonition as a devastating blow on purported Igbo leaders in the South East who recently endorsed Buhari for a second term.

Describing such leaders as undignified individuals, IPOB said Obasanjo’s letter shared the ideals and philosophies of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra State, by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group described Obasanjo’s letter as carefully timed.

The statement read in part, “The statement credited to the former president of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was carefully timed to deliver a devastating blow to the scavenging class of political prostitutes in Igboland that shamelessly went to hawk their waresin Abuja a few days ago.

“The shameless endorsement of Buhari for 2019 by these bunch of undignified individuals under the banner Igbo leaders have showcased to the world what a bunch of delinquent inconsequential vain glorious misery merchants they are.

“We support Obasanjo for his timely intervention because at a time of national crisis and with people losing their lives across the Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria, anybody discussingpartisan politics under such an atmosphere of mass misery is not fit to be regarded as a human being talk more, a leader.

“What Obasanjo said is the clearest endorsement of the philosophy of ourleader and prophet of our time Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, that the only way to reign in a dictatorship is by confronting it head-on with the truth.

“Obasanjo has spoken the truth and should be applauded for it. Those hungry and insatiable APC ‘yes’ men that visited Aso Rock to endorse Buhari for 2019 under the banner of Igbo leaders should all cover their collective faces in shame. They have brought shame and dishonor to Igboland.

“Buhari has nothing to offer apart from misery and premature death. Those who out of ignorance opposed the ideology of freedom as espoused by IPOB can now see that we are visionaries who should be praised notlabeled terrorists.”

The group maintained that Obasanjo had seen the inherent danger of the cluelessness and visionless leadership of the Buhari administration.Powerful added,

“We also commend Chief Ben Nwabueze and Chief Mbazuluike Amaechi who have been speaking in this direction without fearor favour for some time now.

“They are the real Igbo leaders the world should look up to, not the collection of failures, charlatans, pimps and political harlots that went to endorse Buhari in Abuja a few daysago.

“Obasanjo’s statement is a slap on the faces of these criminals parading themselves as Igbo leaders.

The timing couldn’t have been more apt.

“It is crystal clear from analysis of Obasanjo’s statement that the new coalition he is calling for is somethingsimilar to what IPOB is doing, but on abroader all encompassing scale that will include all ethnicities in Nigeria rather than one restricted to Biafra alone.”

Niger Delta militants list key oil assets targeted for destruction

* Warn Fulani herdsmen to steer clear of Nigeria Delta

* Vow to deal with any Niger Delta governor who allows colony

By Egufe Yafugborhi

PORT HARCOURT – A Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators yesterday listed a number of oil fields and installations as targets for resumed attacks if Federal Government failed to address specific grievances agitating the region.

Following three weeks of consultations and meetings across the Niger Delta region, the group, in resolutions adopted in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, yesterday, also gave Fulani herdsmen one months to the vacate the region or face dire consequences.

Signatories to the resolution included, but not limited to John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogsand Convener, Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators; Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers), Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors) and Simply Benjamin (Bakassi Strike Force).

The resolutions spelt a 90-day ultimatum to the Federal Government (FG) to implement restructuring and resource control, return oil blocs in the region to the Niger Delta people and ensure relocation of the oil & gas companies headquarters to the region.

It says, “Otherwise, there would be no one Nigeria. We shall officially declare Niger Delta Republic after 90 days, if the Federal Government fails to implement the above demands.

“We also demand that all the Northerners living in the Niger Delta to quit the region if the Federal Government fails to implement the above demands within the stipulated time. We also call on our people living in the North to also return to the Niger Delta for their safety.

“Our principal targets are Usan, Ima, Okoro/Setu and Asabo oil fields, Okwok, Asuokpu/Umutu fields, OML 112, OML 117, Ebok, Obe oil field, Akpo, OPL 215, 840, OPL 733, 809, 810, 722, 905, 246, 110, 112, 117 etc, other facilities also marked by our strike team are Total Nigeria Ltd, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Intels and Adax Petroleum”

On the menace of herdsmen, the group said, “The massive killings all over the country by Fulani herdsmen are fully sponsored by top government functionaries, especially the security chiefs, who supply them with weapons with sole aim of achieving cattle colony and Islamic agenda.

“The idea of having cattle colony was already in the mind of President Buhari before he contested the 2015 election. The whole world can now see the reason he appointed all security chiefs from the North, including DG of NIA, who is supposed to be replaced by someone from the South.

“The Coalition believes that the killings by the Fulani herdsmen are direct invitation to civil war and we are fully prepared to fight with the last drop of blood to protect the Niger Delta people and her territorial environment.

“The Coalition also condemns the endorsement of the President as APC candidate for 2019 election by some self-centered governors and politicians. Those calling on President Buhari to seek re-election are the real enemies of Nigeria.

“A government that launched “Operation Crocodile Smile I & II” in the Niger Delta, despite the peaceful atmosphere, in the region. “Operation Python Dance I & II” in the South East destroyed people and properties just to silence IPOB and further declare a non-violent IPOB as terrorist organization.

“It would suddenly turn deaf ears on terrorist activities of Fulani herdsmen taking place all over the country on daily basis. We shall no longer tolerate any further bloodshed within the Niger Delta states by the terrorists Fulani herdsmen.

“We shall ensure that our people are protected from every Fulani terrorist; it is very unfortunate that the government that swore to protect the lives and properties of its citizens has suddenly become sectional government, and lacks powers to protect the masses.

“And we warn that any Niger Delta governor that accepts cattle colony would be dealt with as the enemy of the Niger Delta. We don’t want Fulanis among us, they are our enemies”

Obasanjo as Nigeria's moral compass

Appropriate Response To Obasanjo by Simon Kolawole:

Obasanjo as Nigeria's moral compass

Simon Kolawole

For the life of me, I will never understand how former President Olusegun Obasanjo does it. When you think he is done, he has just begun. I have watched in utter amusement how he has, yet again, wangled his way into the front page of newspapers on a daily basis. I don’t know of any other former head of state elsewhere who has turned himself into the subject and object of national attention long after he has left power. Obasanjo is always there, always scheming, always screaming. It is his luck, I must say, but, as a mere mortal, I often wonder why some guys have all the luck.

Obasanjo, amazingly, has become a god or a saint to many Nigerians. Many politicians, commentators, journalists, activists and youths who used to criticise him are now celebrating him as our moral compass. The people he has brutalised before — such as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi — go to Abeokuta to genuflect to him. Even Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, of all people, goes to Obasanjo's house to pay homage. And President Goodluck Jonathan goes to Abeokuta to kowtow to him, with two respected pastors in tow.

How does Obasanjo do it? Can anyone help me out? He has a word on every issue. He expresses his opinion so forcefully, so eloquently and so mischievously that you just cannot ignore him. He loves to criticise what he is patently guilty of. He loves to vilify anyone who does not worship at his temple. There is no accusation Obasanjo throws at anyone that he himself is not double guilty of.  He has launched ferocious media attacks against most of his successors — President Shehu Shagari, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua and Jonathan. Only Gen. Sani Abacha pre-empted him by throwing him into jail before he could open his mouth.

Obasanjo complains about corruption and Nigerians hail him. What's his moral high ground? Can someone tell me? Has anybody never heard about the Halliburton and Siemens scandals? The damning reports are there in the attorney-general's office. Does the name Dr. Julius Makanjuola ring a bell? Under Obasanjo, he was the permanent secretary of the ministry of defence implicated in a N421 million scandal. Mysteriously, the case was abruptly closed with Nolle Prosequi (no further prosecution) — the first in Nigeria's history.

Well, Obasanjo went on to set up the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), headed by Malam Nuhu Ribadu, which — in fairness — did kick the backsides of many politicians. But EFCC could not tackle Obasanjo's own corruption: from the obscene fundraiser for his private library to his shareholding in Transcorp — a company that was getting juicy stuff from a government superintended by Obasanjo. Have we all forgotten the scandalous waivers granted to all kinds of human beings, officially defrauding our treasury billions of dollars?

Does anybody remember that Obasanjo was in power for eight years and we kept importing fuel, with PDP financiers getting the contracts through local and foreign fronts? Forgotten so easily? Does anybody remember how much we spent on repairing refineries that kept "knocking" for the eight years that Obasanjo was in power? Does anybody still remember Obasanjo saying on national TV that he did not know the price of kerosene and it was "unacceptable" that it was more expensive than petrol? How does Obasanjo get away with hoodwinking Nigerians?

Do we still remember that Obasanjo did not resolve the electricity problem for eight years? Do we still remember the "$16 billion spent on power without results" for which Obasanjo arrogantly refused to appear before the House probe panel? Is it that we have forgotten that the damning report was killed? Do we still remember that Obasanjo did not add one coach to the railways throughout his tenure despite spending billions of dollars? Does anybody still remember how many federal highways were in terrible state for the eight years that Obasanjo spent in power? Have we forgotten the Benin-Shagamu road saga? Just like that?

When Obasanjo discusses insecurity, I cringe. From every available evidence, Boko Haram started right under his nose. If he had aborted the foetus, maybe we wouldn't be engaged in fire-fighting today. I have heard many Nigerians say, perhaps innocently, that if Obasanjo had been in power he would have crushed Boko Haram by now. Really? How well did he crush the less complex militancy in the Niger Delta? Was it not under Obasanjo that the militancy started in 2004 and flourished?

To the best of my knowledge, militants were bombing oil installations and kidnapping oil workers with ease under Obasanjo. At a stage, daily crude oil production fell to about 900,000 barrels — from the height of 2.5m. In fact, we were later told that why Obasanjo picked Jonathan as the running mate to Yar'Adua was to appease the Niger Delta. Of course, nobody was appeased. The attacks continued until Yar'Adau offered an amnesty deal. How these facts conveniently escape us is beyond my understanding.

Insecurity? Abacha's regime aside, more Nigerians were assassinated under Obasanjo's watch than at any time in our history. The abridged roll-call: Chief Bola Ige, a serving minister; Chief Marshall Harry, co-ordinator of the Buhari presidential campaign in 2003; Chief AK Dikibo, PDP chieftain and ally of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Chief Uche Ogbonnaya (OGB), an ANPP senatorial candidate in Imo state in 2003; and Mr. Barnabas Igwe and his wife, Amaka, in Onitsha. The assassins were never unmasked. What is insecurity?

How did Obasanjo become our moral compass? How did he become such a highly sought-after role model? Has anybody ever managed to read the affidavit Obasanjo's own son, Gbenga, filed while seeking a divorce from his wife on the ground of incest and adultery? It doesn't matter? Has anybody ever taken time to read the letter Iyabo wrote to her father, giving graphic details of his megalomania and duplicity? It doesn't matter? Has anybody ever done a recap of the blatant rigging of elections under the "saint"? It doesn't matter?

Obasanjo pontificates on impunity and we hail him. What happened to us? Dr. Chris Ngige, as governor of Anambra state, was abducted by Obasanjo's associates. Have we forgotten the illegal impeachment of Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja as governor of Oyo state? What about the impeachment of Chief Joshua Dariye as governor of Plateau by eight out of 24 lawmakers? For three years, Obasanjo unconstitutionally withheld Lagos council allocations because of political differences. It took Yar'Adua only a few days in power to undo the impunity.

They say, 'Oh, Obasanjo is a patriot. He has the best interest of Nigeria at heart.' Really? Can Obasanjo look up to heavens and say, solemnly, that he had the best interest of Nigeria at heart when he was picking his successor? Such a character cannot be my own moral compass. With a moral compass like Obasanjo, though, Nigeria is doomed and damned.

NIGERIA IS IN COMA, SAYS GOV. WIKE

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that Nigeria is in a coma, saying only the PDP can salvage the  country.

This is as Former Jigawa State  Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido declared that he has the capacity  to revive the fortunes of the country.

They spoke at the Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday when the Former Jigawa State Governor visited to inform Governor Wike of his intention  to vie for the position of the President.

Governor Wike said that the APC is a party of strangers with no knowledge  of the intricacies of development.

He said that the APC thrives in politics of mischief wherein it engages in high level intimidation, corruption and dirty political  schemes to compel defection of PDP members to her fold.

"If you decamp to the APC, you are no longer corrupt.  APC  is a party of daylight deceit.

"I am happy that one of those who left to bring a messiah, have realised that the so-called messiah they brought  is no longer the messiah Nigerians expect. PDP  is the only hope for Nigeria", Governor Wike said.

The governor  noted that though the PDP  made mistakes in the past, the Party is the only platform with the commitment and patriotism  to take the country out of the current situation.

He said the present political and economic situation in the country require politicians with courage to rescue  the country.

He said those who benefited from the PDP since inception till 2013 before defecting are the same people sponsoring  negative propaganda against the Party.

The governor described Lamido as a committed and consistent  PDP member who is courageous and has the capacity  to confront the APC.

He, however, urged all Presidential Aspirants to accept the verdict of the Party at the end of the primary.

Also speaking, Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido said  he is presenting himself to take over in 2019 because  the nation deserves to move forward.

He said that if given the opportunity to lead Nigeria, he has the capacity  to unite Nigeria and set it on the path of growth.

He said: "I want to run because I feel I can do it. I have the pedigree.  We stand  to fight for democracy  and the restoration of Nigeria".

He said that his will work with other PDP leaders to transform Nigeria for the good of the people.

The Former Jigawa State Governor said that the APC is a party of hate and deceit, hence it should be sacked in 2019.

ORJI UZO KALU speaks sense

"People were in power at the federal level but they failed to do anything. For example, since 1999 that Nigeria returned to democracy, there is no northern leader that has really ruled this country up to one term."

"Former president Olusegun Obasanjo did two terms totalling eight years, while Goodluck Jonathan did six years. One would have expected these two leaders to turn the South-East to paradise if truly the problem is between the North and the South. Roads like the Enugu-Umuahia-Okigwe-Aba-Port Harcourt expressway, Enugu-Awka-Onitsha Expressway, Owerri to Port Harcourt, Aba, Ikot Ekpene-Calabar, Imo-Mbadon-Umuahia-Bende-Ohafia-Arochukwu-Cross River and the Okigwe-Nnewi highways."

"These are the roads that people are complaining about. At the moment, you can see construction work going on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, while work is also ongoing on the Awka-Onitsha Expressway. There is also work going on now on the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene Road."

"These are being done by the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Buhari. He once challenged me when I complained about the poor state of our roads."

He said, “But we once had the secretary to the government of the federation, the minister of finance, minister of aviation, deputy senate president, deputy speaker of the House of Representatives and many others in powerful positions but that they did nothing about the roads.”

"Now the minister of works has given marching orders to the contractors handling the road projects to start the jobs. If our sons and daughters who had held influential positions in the recent past had improved on the development of our area, we would not be where we are today."

"Sometimes, our people are fed with wrong information. We also have governors in the South-East, who didn’t really perform. If Jonathan had done these Roads, nobody would be talking about marginalisation today. If Jonathan had done the East-West road, nobody would be complaining."

"The problem of Nigeria is that most people who found themselves in the position of leadership were not prepared for it. You must be able to manage yourself before you manage others

The Punch

OBASANJO THE MOST DEVILISH LEADER OF NIGERIA.

General Olusegun Obasanjo, you are really a  devil sent from hell to destroy our country Nigeria.Obasanjo, you are the mysterious destroying weapon designed by the those who really don't mean well for our country Nigeria, making the most mysterious lucky leader of Africa. You started this wonderful job for the devil when you  became an unexpected Military Head of state after the brutal coup that killed one of our most loved Head of state (General Murtala Muhammed).just after becoming the Head of state sold the country to the devil by organising the FESTAC 77.

You as a way of burying the seed of the devil in the seat of the leadership of the country started by denying Nigeria from having a President Like OBAFEMI AWOLOWO and installed a teacher (President Shehu Shagari) whom he believes he can always manipulate and can never dares altering any of his crafty policy. And at the beginning of his government, Obasanjo was seen travelling from country to country looking for foreign partners and end up bringing them into the country and walk straight  to the office of the supposedly imposed President for meetings best known to him and then during these periods of sweet romance.

He calls the President as the  best gift from God to Nigeria. But after joining to suck the milk and feels it's getting dried up, the Almighty OBASANJO went on air to declare President Shehu Shagari as incompetent and that his government has lost focus and needs a redeemer which in effect was the beginning of his ways of hungry people to take over the government. After this open complains we all knew what happened to the Nigerian government in December 31st 2003. Another version of his acts in the achieving his schemes to destroy Nigeria was after the JUNE 12 whales.
This same OBASANJO went on air to declare President Shehu Shagari as incompetent and that his government has lost focus and needs a redeemer which in effect was the beginning of his ways of hungry people to take over the government. After this open complains we all knew what happened to the Nigerian government in December 31st 2003.Another version of his acts in the achieving his schemes to destroy Nigeria was after the JUNE 12 whales. This same OBASANJO went on air to declare, that "MKO Abiola" is not the Messiah Nigerians were looking for as at that point in time. We all knew how his statement aided the military to succeed in enslaving us then. Ironically, the crisis, then even consumed him which put him in jail.

After the monumental destruction of both human and physical structures of the country, the evil cabals of this country, then sent the self acclaimed Evil genius (IBB) to invite this  same OBASANJO to continue from where he stopped and behold the this Nebuchadnezzar called " OBASANJO "  again and this time around became the most corrupted President in Africa. But technically, he was busy telling us the it was his Vice (Alhaji Atiku) that connived with governors like OBORI of Delta State and late ALAMS of Bayelsa State., that were the thieves and neither himself  nor ministers.
Wonderfully, he started using his ministers (Femi and El Rufia) to state campaign of hatred on his Vice who he saw as a threat to his 2nd term bid.Furthermore, was that OBASANJO invented and started the usage of GHANA MUST GO CASH in bribing the National Assembly to give in to all his bids for personal gains which in turn was detrimental to the development of our country Nigeria.

Is it not disheartened to note that this same OBASANJO tried to use our own money to destroy and ridicule our country's 1999 Constitution to be seen by the western world as an ordinary toilet paper, when he wanted to elongate his stay in the Aso Rock Villa at a President for Life?.
After his unsuccessful third termed elongation plans, he decided to wicked NIGERIA by planting MUSA YARA DUA on the President seat in order to continue his control of the government by making a weak Man who pretended to be a fool as Vice President.

We all saw how OBASANJO was galvanising from pillar to post like a rattled snake insisting that Good Luck Jonathan must be the acting President in a DO  or DIE manner which he as the President once made as his only way of achieving all he ever wanted. So after his falling out with President Jonathan, it was expected of him to do the needful and he never disappointed Nigerians when with his annoyance on Jonathan, he has torn his PDP membership card and made his house the mecca of the then newly formed APC.

OBASANJO a man filled with so many characteristic after romancing with the then new government of PRESIDENT BUHARI became engulfed in some mysterious issues with some people like Alhaji Atiku and some others and this has kind of affected his his wicked greed of controlling every President and his Ministers. Nigerians will be surprised to note that President BUHARI must have been managing the excesses of people like OBASANJO for a very long time because we all know that he is a dangerous pest to every government and also it's on record that the moment OBASANJO becomes no more in good terms with the sitting President, that President must go.

The question now whether General Olusegun Obasanjo is now the ALMIGHTY GOD of NIGERIA and that every sitting President must worship him as our God?. God forbid this believe and it will never work.Another question is why is that it is only when  OBASANJO no more maintains cordial relationships that he always write a nasty letter of mass destruction?. Finally, is it Everytime that OBASANJO becomes an enemy to a sitting President and he writes a   self styled letter of sack to him that Nigerians will then look for a know Party to remove the sitting President?.

I hope our MUMU  don too much ooo.

To me, my candid advice to MR PRESIDENT BUHARI and the National Chairman of APC are as follows: - (a) That the Ministers positions must be overhauled immediately and only serious minded and qualified persons to be appointed for the remaining months. Also Special Advisers and Special Assistants must be affected too.(b) This should form a critical advise to the National Chairman of APC that only a popular candidate should field in the 2019 Election and not  based on friendship or personal gains because prevention is better than cure.

(c) That's the only basis that can form a guarantee foundation for President BUHARI is that APC must only field a popular candidate who can win votes in their respective state for the President. As far as General Olusegun Obasanjo is and can never our God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, his mission in Nigeria has been already dead on arrival and I feel bold to say that our Almighty God has taken over Nigeria from all the PDP aquatic activities headed by General Olusegun Obasanjo.God bless President BUHARI!.God bless Nigeria!!.

I remain,

Prince Christopher Akpojotor Agaga.

PDP: Our party is true coalition of Nigerians,..Says It did not procure judgment from S/Court

Press Statement

PDP: Our party is true coalition of Nigerians,..Says It did not procure judgment from S/Court

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it represents the true coalition of Nigerians from across the country adding that its experience in governance and successful rebound from challenges has provided it an edge over every other existing or intended political platforms in Nigeria.

This is just as the party said it did not procure judgment from the Supreme Court contrary to the unsubstantiated claims made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his letter advising President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Wednesday, said Obasanjo’s claim on procurement of judgement amounts to an ill-intended attempt to impugn on the integrity of the Supreme Court, particularly when such a claim is false and not predicated on any empirical proof.

The party said that the ruling of the Supreme Court, which ended the protracted internal feud within its fold, rather than detract, reinforced the confidence of Nigerians in the PDP as the platform that truly embodies the resilience of a genuine democratic process in the face of daunting challenges.

It further said that even the worst critics of PDP concede that the judgment of the Supreme Court, was unprejudiced, uninfluenced and determined completely on merit, for which it was applauded in Nigeria and across the world.

Also, the conduct of our December 2017 elective National Convention in a transparent, free and fair manner and where nobody was ‘kingmaker,’ denotes the democratic credential of the repositioned PDP to deliver credible primaries that would yield a presidential candidate Nigerians desire.

Stressing that there is an extensive dissimilarity between it and the All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP noted that while it remains nationally populist and development-driven, the APC by orientation and composure is arrogant, inept and anti-people, hence the nationwide detestation against it.

It said unlike the APC, where a very few individuals from within a circle control the instrument of power and governance, the PDP said it remains that egalitarian platform where all Nigerians are free to express themselves, politically engage and freely aspire for any office without regard to divisive considerations.

SHOCKING REVELATIONS FROM SENATOR DINO AGAINST NNPC.

NNPC operates a secret account used for siphoning monies, currently has a balance of $137mllion,$4million has previously been withdrawn - Sen. Malaye

Lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has raised the alarm over alleged operation of a secret account by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and other joint venture companies.

Melaye, who raised a point of order at the plenary on Tuesday, alleged that the account, which was supposed to be domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria, was with Keystone Bank, had no Bank Verification Number and had a balance of $137m as of today (Tuesday).

He said, “While some individuals and government appointees will continue to steal, we have decided to continue to expose corruption in public life.

“This morning, I call the attention of the Nigerian Senate to a suspected, colossal, monumental corruption in NNPC.

“A company was registered with the name ‘Brass LNG Limited’ with the Federal Government having controlling shares.

“We have some Italians, Belgians and French as shareholders, with the Federal Government with a controlling share of about 50 per cent.

“It is a known fact that once you have a joint venture, the account of such joint venture will be domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“But in this case, that was not what happened. In private, the account was opened with Keystone Bank; this account has no BVN and there has been periodic withdrawals (from it).

“The last withdrawal from the account was to the tune of $4m. As I speak to you, the balance of that account as of today is $137m.”

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, sought the permission of the lawmakers to allow Melaye to bring the matter up as a motion at the next legislative day, which was unanimously granted.

Melaye was asked to move the motion on Wednesday (tomorrow).

Nepotism Smelling All Over Nigeria

"Words of Dr. Junaid Mohammed a northern ethno-religious irredentist.

“Let me say straight away that whether one calls it a cabal or a mafia or power within the presidency under Buhari, whatever you say it is; it is, and a lot worse. First, the most influential person in the presidency today is one Mamman Daura whom as you know, is a nephew of the president. His father was Buhari’s elder brother. In addition, Mamman Daura was the one who single-handedly brought up Abba Kyari, the current chief of staff to the president. In fact, Abba Kyari knows Mamman Daura more than he knows his own father.

“Next, the personal assistant to Buhari himself is the son of Mamman Daura, next is the State Chief of Protocol (SCOP), and is also a son-in-law to Mamman Daura because he is married to Mamman Daura’s daughter.

Next, the minister they unilaterally chose, against the interest of the party and against the wishes of Sokoto people, happens to be the daughter of the younger sister of Mamman Daura’s wife. Both of them are daughters of Sultan Dasuki, who was sacked by General Abacha. We have the aide-de-camp to Buhari himself, Colonel Abubakar. He is married to the granddaughter of one of Buhari’s elder sisters. Next we have the woman who represents Kaduna in the Federal Executive Council, she is a cousin to Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai. It is a well known that el-Rufai is one of the closest governors to Muhammadu Buhari.

“Next, we have the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Minister of the FCT is the man called Musa Bello, who used to be the Managing Director of the Northern Nigeria Development Corporation, which used to be the biggest holding company that belonged to all the northern states. His only qualification to be the FCT minister is the fact that his father has been Buhari’s friend over the years.

Now, there is a young man called Sabiu Yusuf, nicknamed Tunde – probably because of the late General Tunde Idiagbon. He is another PA to President Buhari. He is also a grandson of another sister of Buhari.
“This is enough to prove to you that this is shamelessly the worst form of nepotism in the history of government in Nigeria.

In fact, in the history of Africa, let me make bold to assert that I have never seen any level of nepotism that has equalled or surpassed this in my entire life – I am now in my 67th year. Another thing I also want you to know is that Amina Zakari, who was and is still a national commissioner in the Independent National Electoral Commission representing the entire seven states in the North-west; it is being claimed that Buhari knows nothing about her appointment (before he became the president), it is a lie.

“When President Goodluck Jonathan was reorganising INEC and he was bringing in Prof. Attahiru Jega, he reached out to Buhari and asked him to nominate somebody from the North-west so that, that person would be a national commissioner. Of all the people in the North-west, Buhari decided to nominate his own niece, the daughter of his elder sister – Amina Zakari.

She has been there; when Jega left, Buhari was determined to make her the chairman, it was because of the massive backlash that he dropped the idea like hot potatoes. As we are talking today, that woman is a national commissioner which means she is one of the principal members of the election umpire.

“Throughout my reading of history, political science and social sciences generally, I have never heard of any dictator or any tyrant under any system of government whether totalitarian or fascist, appointing his own niece to conduct elections in which he was either a party or going to be a party to; Buhari has done that.

The immediate younger brother to Amina Zakari is currently the Minister for Water Resources representing Jigawa State in the same Buhari government. In addition, even though they are from Kazaure, Kazaure is contiguous to Daura. The eldest sister of both of them is now the Commissioner for Education in the All Progressives Congress government in Jigawa State.

If this is not nepotism, then I don’t know what nepotism is. For somebody who had the guts and the brutal arrogance to appoint these relations, not bothered about public opinion, about the sense of justice, and about competence, then you can see that he has a very serious question to answer.”

My Take On National Grazing Reserve Council Bill

I have never read the National Grazing Reserve Council Bill, but I saw something that caught my attention.

Bellow is what caught my attention.

I decided to read a copy of the National Grazing Reserve Council Bill and I was surprised at what I saw.

The Bill creates a council to be chaired by a Chairman to be appointed by the president.

The council shall have the power to take your land anywhere the land is located in the country and then pay you compensation.

Your land, when taken, shall be assigned to herdsmen who shall use your land for grazing purposes. They shall bring cows to the land and you shall lose the land permanently to those Fulani cattlemen.

If you feel that the council was not right to take your land, you can go to court but before you go to court, you must first of all notify the federal attorney general of your intention to sue the council. Apart from notifying, you must get the consent and authority of the Federal Attorney General before you can sue.

So that means that if the Attorney General refuses to give his consent to the suit, you have lost your land forever to the herdsmen.

And this law, when passed, shall apply to the whole country so it means that your land in the village or anywhere is not safe.

The National Grazing Reserve Council would have the power to take away your land from you anytime they want and pay you whatever they want as compensation (even when you don't want to sell, and remember that for you to get compensation, you must have documents showing or proving ownership).

So I think that we all in the South West, South South and South East must rise up and reject this Bill. We must do all things to force our national Assembly members from passing that bill into law.

That bill is a deliberate attempt to take our lands and hand the land over to the Fulani cattlemen since it is only the fulanis that rear cattlshally Nigeria.

That law, when passed, shal fulfil the directive of Uthman Dan Fodio and other northern leaders to take over other parts of Nigeria.

I implore you to use all available means to implore your senator and Rep not to pass that law.

That law will destroy Nigeria.

All over the world, ranches are established and used to rear cattle. The farmers buy land and put thier cattle there. There is no country where the land of the citizens are compulsorily acquired and given to others.

This is evil, and designed to favour the Fulanis where the president comes from.

We must resist the passage of that bill into law to save Nigeria, and to protect our future generations
Please share this piece until it goes viral.

We must defend our land and protect our children.
