An Asaba Youth leader, Onianwa Joseph Medua, is building stronger ties amongst Asaba youths through annual tournament.

Since 1995, the youth leader had through personal funding and financial support from Umuonyia youths hosted "Proff 5 Aside Football Tournament"

The 35 minutes per half tournament is designed for talent hunt, peace and unity amongst youth population.

This year's tournament had 8 teams registered.

We commenced the tournament first week of March this year, Onianwa Joseph Medua told our reporter.

Yesterday, Otu-Ogwu F.C and Umudaike F.C played final match in the tournament.

Over the years, hosting the tournament had endured challenges like funding, security and technical support, Onianwa said.

At full time, both sides ended goalless, as Okonta Emmanuel officiated as the center referee.
We present medals and troupes to champions and cash awards of N30, 000, N20,000 & N10, 000 respectively to first, second and third place teams.

Highest goal scorer, best dressed team and best behaved team, go home with cash award of N5,000 each, the organizer said.

Umudaike F.C through penalty kicks emerged champions.

Sharing his thoughts with Asaba post news wire, Adimabua Patrick Okolo, Umuonyia youth leader, commended the organizer and urged other Ahaba well meaning individuals to support the initiative.

Onianwa Medua deserves community recognition over this pro-youth development initiative, Patrick Okolo said.

Ill and evil, they say persists in the land when both good and well meaning folks keep quiet, fearfully fold their arms and embark on zero actions.

At Asaba post news wire, we committ to always champion Ani Ahaba issues, so are other grassroots citizens driven organisations we floated.

Yes, the Ogbogonogo Market Traders Elections had come and gone, boldly against all odds, we at Asaba post news wire took a position.

The position we took and the online advocacy attracted the least expected response from our readership.

We felt truly bad, at first it was as if we acted stupidly or attempted cooking up issues.

Worst of all that greeted our actions were the various acts of treacherous response our well researched and documented work received from many Pro-Asaba social media platforms.
It was sadly unfortunate that about 50% of the major Pro-Asaba social media platforms consciously deleted our work from their pages and online spaces.

Too Sadly enough today, I sat at a meeting with the Vice president general of the Asaba Development Union(ADU), Ogbueshi Anthony Efianya, and I asked him why he has not responded to our work on the ADU Facebook page, to my surprise he told me nothing like such work was on the page, knowing fully well that he is the page's administrator and that I personally posted the work on the page, I was really sad.

How could the leadership of the ADU that was some what visibly not pleasant with the outcome of the market elections and a man that personally registered his displeasure over the out right disregard of the Oshimili South Council boss to the instructions of Asaba palace chiefs before the commencement of the said elections, resorted to such treacherous act of deleting our online media house publications, about an issue that is fundamentally an Ani Ahaba issue and one that pertains to the very core traditional values of the land.

We never hesitated at registering our displeasure at the pre and post issues about the market elections.

The market is a traditional and culturally relevant piece to the Asaba Community, the market is to a great extent gender sensitive space, mainly a women dominated world, traditionally, the community handed over the leadership of the market to women ( Ndi Otu Omu).

That the last Ogbogonogo market election committee erred greatly at pitching a non indegene male against a female indigenous trader, and so sadly against the earlier palace chiefs directives, is a communal slap to bad to enjoy any volume of silence.

That the newly decorated and installed Omu of Asaba did not fail the land at the discharge of her traditional responsibilities is but attempting to be needlessly economical with the truth.

Some Asaba Community stakeholders we engaged shared that the blame should not be wholly leveled at the Omu, as she was cornered off the market Traders Elections planning process by the local government council management.

Yet, other stakeholders were of the view that as the overall traditional market Traders leader and the apex leader of all women groups and organisations in the land, it would had being more loyal and patriotic of her to had vehemently refused the time table of the arranged market Traders Elections, they reasoned that her resistance would have further endeared her leadership to the land and people of Asaba.

Our choice to do this piece as a continuation of the last work on this issue stems on the premise that the information we got later today about the inauguration of the Ogbogonogo Market Traders Executives at the Oshimili South Council today greatly alarmed us and left us wondering at what truly is happening.

At last, we at, Asaba Post News Wire, are happy that it really pays to do purposeful pro-community advocacy and activism.

But still far beyond this ecstacy and some feelings of achievement, is yet an unaddressed issue we took note of, about the inauguration ceremony.

We were reliably informed that the Asaba Woman who contested against the non indegene male but lost seat of the market leadership to the male non indegene was surprisingly sworn in as an executive of the market.

An illegality, one will easily point out, of a truth, as some Asaba based community activists shared with us.

Of what practical need or purpose does it serve to have the Asaba woman sworn in into an office prior to the election, was not a gazetted office according to the market Traders constitution.

One of my highly cherished media work mentor had always taught me to ask the question 'why'.
Our search to unearth the reasons behind the creation of an unexisting office and consequent swearing into office of a woman who lost to another led to a well full of possible options and permutations.

Was the Oshimili South Council boss attempting to right past wrongs leveled at Asaba palace chiefs.

Some school of thoughts beleived the local government council is strategically seeking to appease the Asaba traditional community who ego and pride had being bruised.

Or could it be that the traditional pride of place an average Asaba woman ought to command at the Ogbogonogo Market has suddenly dawned upon all actors who earlier had attempted at robbing the Ani Ahaba woman her pride of place at the very market her progenitors traded at and maintained same leadership.

Can we safely say that out of the blues the spirit of beejin conference and the ever active gender mainstreaming advocacy suddenly over shadowed the whole consciousness of all major actors, in favor of the rightful gender leadership to emerge.

Too many more possibilities abound that could be postulated as to the reason why today at the inauguration ceremony the office of a woman leader was created for the Ani Ahaba woman who lost to a non indegene male counterpart.

With the current trend eventually registered, we congratulate the ever vibrant spirit of Ada Ani Ahaba who till now had been our brave and bold amazon.

We appeal to her to never give sleeping eyes to issues that may militate against the poor trading women population at the market and as the market's woman leader to seek out vital means to profit and engage more female traders into positive economic and social cultural engagement that will add values to the status as family home makers and community development actors.

Indeed, it pays to actively engage the system and objectively maintain quality reportage.

Leadership Tussle:Union Leaders Demand For Elections

* Seek Due Democratic Electoral Process, Government Intervention

Local Branch Chairmen and secretaries of the Union of Tippers and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQEN), Delta State Chapter, has demanded for elections into state exco offices of the union.

Addressing newsmen at Asaba, the union's acting secretary, comrade Chime O Kingsley, lamented the union's stagnated leadership status in the past twelve years.

The union's leaders from seventeen local government areas of the state, staged a peaceful protest on Monday, this week, demanding an end to the union's zero democratic change of leadership through free and fair elections.

In a protest statement made available to journalists, read in part, "prior to 2013, the union was only an association before becoming a union, with zero elections conducted.

The protesting union Leaders observed that membership into the union is open to only to Tipper drivers, quarry and tipper owners.

They seized the occasion to discredit the needless distraction the union suffer from one Mr Kanayo Enemuoh, whose past leadership through (non electoral means) appointment as State Chairman, they lamented bred anti union agenda, activities and tendencies.

Prior to the acting chairmanship of Comrade Dumebi Eluaka, the Mr. Kanayo Enemuoh led exco operated without a state office, demonstrated zero accountability to members and national leaders, operated only from Asaba, the protest statement read.

According to a memo from the trade union services and industrial relations department of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, dated 16th October, 2014, directed the union on how to end the leadership tussle rocking it.
On Mr Enemuoh's suspension by the union's national executive, the ministry ruled that the union's national executive retains the option to pursue a disciplinary action against any state Chairman in accordance to due process and as stipulated in the union's constitution.
Fielding reports from our reporter, Comrade Ndidi Okoagbor, Ika South Branch Chairman, observed that they support Ministry of Labour and Productivity's directive that a state exco election be conducted by the union's national executive for the state chapter.
We resist in strong terms all attempts by Mr Kanayo Enemuoh to perpetuate himself in power without getting same through free and fair elections.
Chief Comrade Moses Ukuedojor, Ughelli North branch Chairman, noted that they support that there must be a state exco election in Delta State chapter of the union.
The union's leaders during the peaceful protest sought the attention of federal and state government functionaries and agencies.
As law abiding citizens, we seek and promote peace, all we want is a free and fair elections, so that qualified and pro-people leadership will emerge, Chief Comrade Ukuedojor observed.
The federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity's memo instructed that the union's national leadership should conduct an election into state exco offices of the union, in six months, after releasing the memo in October 2014.
The election will affect all positions in the state exco offices and must be witnessed by the presence of the Register of Trade Union, without which the election becomes null and void, the memo read in part.
Based on the above provisions, the union's branch chairmen and secretaries in good faith and commitment to purposeful leadership, support for democratic ideals, demanded for free and fair elections into the union's state executive offices.
In a related development, Comrade Ifeanyi Obi, Delta State Chapter chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) noted that UTQEN has come to stay as a trade union and must fulfil her mission and mandate.

The leadership tussle bedevilling the union can only be solved by a well conducted free and fair election, Comrade Ifeanyi Obi stressed.

Oshimili South PDP Stakeholders & Leaders Forum Launch Battle Against Agents of Disunity

A political adage has it that "the people perish when good men do nothing in the face of bad leadership and societal ills.

Acting on the above premise, a political forum whose membership is drawn from the people's democratic party (PDP) in Oshimili South L.G.A of Delta State has raised her voice against what they termed actions and activities of agents of party disunity.

In an open letter made available to journalists after a crucial meeting of members of "Stakeholders, Leaders, Elders, Present and Past Political Office Holders in Oshimili South L.G.A" made their position clear today.

According to the forum's chairman, Hon. Idowu Onwudinjo, the group recognised Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State as the indisputable leader of the party in Delta State.

He frowned at the actions of some undemocratic elements, who use the worthy name of the state governor to perpetuate their undemocratic wicked acts in Oshimili South L.G.A, which the group vehemently refuse and seek the governor’s attention.

Recognising that the party has constituted Congress committee in all LGAs of the state, the group, in strong terms condemn the activities of these undemocratic elements who are not members of the Congress committee but parade themselves throughout the LGA as such.

To buttress their claims, the group pointed out that these elements of disunity and distraction selected their cronies from each ward as members of the Congress committee, and stated most worrisomely, that one of such hand picked person in ward 6 has just recently decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ogbueshi Hon. Emeka Ojogwu, during a media chat with our reporter congratulated the state governor over his recent appointment of Oshimili South L.G.A party faithfulls and described these political agents of this unity as Oshimili South L.G.A electoral liabilities, who can not win elections in their respective units and wards, with no followers but only knows how to walk around corridors of power.

Probing into the activities of these agents of internal party disunity, Ogbueshi Ojogwu sought answers to pertinent questions.

"Who are the members of the PDP Oshimili South L.G.A Congress committee" " Are any of these agents of internal disruption listed members of the committee" "By the time the authorized committee is set for the job, would they meet an atmosphere of peace or of ranchor" "By the actions of these agents of disunity, are they not arrogating powers they do not possess unto themselves" "what manner of kangaroo impunity can we call this" Ogbueshi Ojogwu asked.

Mr Amechi Okpunor, who spoke to our reporter, thanked Governor Okowa for the appointment of the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr Azinge, who he described as a round peg in a round hole, fit and proper for the job.

He is not among the political jobbers who cause great disunity and needless political instability in Oshimili South L.G.A, we support the S.M.A.R.T Agenda and the Prosperity For All Deltans mantra.

It is very important that we look back at some very special actors in our journey inwards (IJE ANYE). 

Of all the coupists both successful or not, one stands out - Major Gideon Orkar.

What is it that is very special about this great African son?

What is it that this great visionary saw that the other coupists did not see?

 Yes, Orkar was a great analyst and in time Africa will celebrate this her great son.

Recently as I listened to "National Public Radio" talk about how the Government of Kuwait will have to cut back from the excesses that were being doled out to its citizens, I was reduced to tears. 

Where does one start?

•        Should one start with the free schools, up to college level?

•        Zero unemployment and infrastructures that work?

•        Free health care and services as advanced as any in the advanced world?

Again the thought of this major crossed my mind.

What did he see that other coupists could not or were not insightful enough to see?

Why was his coup based on a different set of summation?

How could the whole country have been so wrong?

Even after millions lost their lives trying to 'Keep Nigeria One', here comes a Major saying the opposite.

What madness possessed this major, or all along was he the only sane person in the whole country?

After all these years, one fact remains constant, Orkar was a genius.

He had finally come to the realization that most of us even up to this very day continue to labour under and refuse to believe, that Nigeria was unworkable.

He finally understood that the entity - Nigeria, was a mistake.

He understood that there was no way one could get a democratic system and a feudal system under the same government.

He understood that Nigeria was not designed to cater to the needs of her citizens but to enrich some western interests.

He looked at all the speeches of all the Northern leaders from the inception of the abomination Nigeria and one thing was clear, these guys were only interested in conquering the country. 

To them Nigeria was an entity set up to be raped and pillaged by them. 

In a flash of brilliance, he thought that since this mafia came from one part of the country, all he had to do was push that part out of Nigeria and the problem would be solved.

Great solution, but obviously doomed to fail.

No matter how correct he thought he was, no one has the right to force nations under any umbrella without consulting them. 

But because this "Great Son of Africa" was ready to take a chance for "Mother Africa", we say NDEEWO to him. 

Because this "Great Son of Africa" saw the suffering around him and decided to do something about it we say NDEEWO.

Because this "Great Son of Africa" had a vision, and was ready to put all on the line for this selfless goal, we say NDEEWO to him. 

Yes, MAJOR GIDEON ORKAR, you are a man among men. Thank you for thinking of the common man.

There has to be dissolution of Nigeria, BUT IT MUST BE PEACEFUL!

It must be achieved through friendly negotiation by all the ethnic groups in Nigeria. 

Why remain in a bad marriage when one could be peaceful and friendly neighbors? 

The time has come for all alternatives be examined.

 If USSR, a world power, can allow itself to peacefully split into 15 countries, how much less Nigeria?

Nigeria must show the world that Africans can solve their problems without guns. 

WE MUST DO THE RIGHT THING.

With the declaration of the 'Core North' as an Islamic nation, the division is already in process. It is time for the other nations to speak for themselves. 

It is time for all ethnic groups to tell Nigerians where they stand. The die is cast, there is no going back.

Nigeria is dead; long live the new real emerging African countries.

Now we can finally shout UHURU!
