The Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Abiodun Smith has released 38 persons from prison.
He made the release at the Nigerian Prison, Agbor, Headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area, during his official tour of prisons across the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Smith said that the aim of the programme was to ensure that no one was held perpetually without trail in a competent court of jurisdiction. He described Agbor priosn as organised, peaceful and clean.
While commending the Deputy controller in charge of Agbor Prisons, Ven. Moruwa, he promised to take their request for an ambulance to the Headquarters for necessary actions.
He noted that procedures had been fine tuned to ensure success of proceedings, adding that he had come with an open mind and called on councils to cooperate with the prisons.
Earlier in a speech, Deputy Controller in Charge of Agbor Prisons, Ven. Moruwa congratulated the Chief Judge of the state on his appointment.
While noting that it was the first time the CJ was visiting Agbor Prisons, he said that it would be a sigh of relief for families and friends of inmates released during the visit.
