AS DELTA DECIDES 2019 BECKONS

DELTA POLITICAL VANGUARD REGROUP TO DELIVER GOV OKOWA IN 2019.

...AS NASS MEMBERS, PROMINENT DELTANS AND STAKEHOLDERS CONVERGED FOR A RE-UNION DINNER IN ASABA.

By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq  (EA Communications).

A foremost political pressure group in Delta State, Delta Political Vanguard  (DPV) last Friday 2nd February, 2018 held stakeholders dinner cum interactive session tagged HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS: PANACEA FOR PEACE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, THE DELTA STATE EXPERIENCE.

Director General of the group, Hon Ifeanyi Eboigbe in his welcome address said the theme of the re-union dinner reflects the vision and one of the major priority of the Okowa administration, adding that the prime attention and huge investment of the state government in peace building paid off as the reletative peace and security enjoyed in the state accounted for the drastic increase in crude oil export resulting in improved revenue for the federal and state governments.

He emphasised on the need for watertight collaboration between the state government and all stakeholders including community leaders, traditional institutions, the youth and law enforcement agencies so as to sustain the peace and security initiatives for  enhanced healthy relationships for development across the three Senatorial districts.

Eboigbe further stated that peace, security and healthy relationship is critical in nation building in terms of investment inflows, improved earnings from tourism and other commercial activities for economic growth and expansion.

More importantly, Hon Eboigbe appealed to the group's stakeholders not to use DPV platform to promote individual political aspirations, rather the collective efforts of the group members must be geared towards the re-election of the state governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Delta State.

"You will recall that His Excellency the Governor of Delta State inaugurated Delta Political Vanguard prior to 2015 general elections and the group worked so hard and at the end was able to join political forces with our great party, the PDP to garner landslide victory for our amiable governor.

"We must  therefore rekindle and triple our collective efforts towards achieving better and greater electioneering results in 2019. The opposition party has made our work easier because of poor performance and visionless leadership since May 29, 2015 at the centre and in nearly all the APC controlled States in Nigeria. APC is now history.

"Stakeholders and their supporters must not use this group to promote individual or group political interests. DPV is strictly to mobilize eligible voters for the re-election of Gov Okowa. I trust that we are committed to this laudable objectives; members of this group and all Deltans shall be better for it if we do the needful to win the coming general elections in a superlative landslide victory. His Excellency the Governor conveys his gratitude and warm regards to each and every stakeholder," Eboigbe added.

Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi representing Delta North Senatorial District at the Red Chambers disclosed that members of the National Assembly from Delta State are solidly behind the re-election of Gov Okowa except for the APC senator.

"It will not be out of place for the APC senator to return to PDP because of the mess the Buhari administration has plunged Nigeria. It's really sad and I know deep inside of me that the opposition Senator may soon dump the moribund APC. PDP is back and ready to CHANGE the socioeconomic and political fortunes of our dear country.

"I want to here and now make my first instalment donation of N10 million towards the take-off of the second phase of Delta Political Vanguard for Okowa 2019. I encourage stakeholders and prominent Deltans to fund the group, because its a political pressure group with the objective of providing the needed atmosphere for credible leadership.

"Gov Okowa's monumental achievements in all sectors of the state economy is commendable which is why all hands must be on deck to ensure his re-election via a landslide victory in 2019.

"It's obvious that the APC is a scam party as can be seen from the lack of visionary leadership, economic recession, hike in price of petrol from N97 per litre to between N145 and N200, decline in the value of our Naira from N160 to $1 in 2015 to between N520 to N385 from 2015 to 2018 and no signs of improvement," Senator Nwaoboshi further lamented.

Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori thanked Senator Nwaoboshi for his kind gesture for donating N10 million; and for his commitment towards Gov Okowa's administration and the Vanguard.

He observed that with the calibre of politicians present at the re-union dinner for stakeholders, the Governor's victory in 2019 shall be a walk over, adding that members of Delta State House of Assembly are stakeholders in the re-election of His Excellency Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, so as to enable him sustain and expand his prosperity for all Deltans good governance initiatives, socioeconomic and infrastructure development programmes.

Mr Speaker described Gov Okowa as God's gift to the good people of Delta State, adding that if not for the transparency, accountability and prudent management of the state financial resources while the acute economic recession lasted, the state would have been thrown into confusion, poverty and retrogression. Delta State is doing well today because of the visionary leadership of the Governor.

"In midst of economic recession, this administration was able to roll out 161 road construction and rehabilitation projects, completed and commissioned 60 roads, built primary schools and colleges, embarked on hugue jobs and wealth creation for over 3,000 youth through YAGEP and STEP plus thousands of direct and indirect jobs created as a result of engagement of skilled and unskilled workers at the various construction sites across the three Senatorial districts in the state.

"Election time is here and it is our collective responsibility to support the Governor and this we must do via massive mobilization of eligible voters towards Gov Okowa's victory in 2019. I thank all stakeholders for finding time to be here, let's do it again in 2019," Speaker Oborevwori urged Deltans.

The occasion was well attended by prominent politicians and people from all walks of life including;  Secretary to Delta State Government, Hon Festus Ovie Agas, Chief Tom Amioku, Hon Mrs Mrakpor, Hon Evelyn Oboro, Hon Funkekeme, Honourabke Commissioners, Some Local Government Chairmen, Aides to the Governor, Engr Blessing Enamuotor, Olorogun Okiemute Akigho, Stakeholders from the three Senatorial districts and federal constituencies, some members of the Delta State House of Assembly, serving and retired government officials, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Communications, Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe and many other senior appointees.
