Delta
State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has said that Delta State as the home of
artists and rising youths with vibrant talents.
The
governor, who stated this at the gala night held in honour of the members of
the Senate Committee on the review of the 1999 Constitution in Asaba,
acknowledged the rise of young talents emanating from the state under the
leadership of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barr. Richard Mofe
Damijo.
Dr
Uduaghan said that one of the mandates of his administration was to ensure that
youths become more useful to themselves and the society through the exhibition
of their natural gifts.
He
also stated that more avenues would be created for youths in the state to
express themselves freely. Dr Uduaghan also thanked the senate committee for
choosing the state to host the 3 day retreat, stating that it had given the
youths an opportunity to showcase their unique gifts.
In
a brief response, the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, commended
Dr Uduaghan and his administration for putting a lot of effort in promoting
human resources in the state.
He
also commended the governor on his ability to create an enabling environment
for the youths to groom and nurture their gifts.
Also
speaking, the Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuozuorie Macaulay,
thanked the senate committee for choosing Delta state as a unique venue to host
the retreat.
