YOUTH COMMISSIONER CHARGES YOUTHS TO SHUN INIMICAL ACTS




The state Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Ebifa Olisaeloka  Ijeomah,  has called on youths to shun activities that would ruin their future. 

The Commissioner gave the advice as a guest on the popular TV show, Inside- Out with Agatha.

            Mr.  Ijeomah noted that the state government under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan had been able to establish a connection with the youths across the state, a feat which he averred had brought about peace in the state.

            He observed that the communication gap was bridged, when relationship was created through regular interactions and meetings with youth bodies and other stakeholders.

            While commending the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the state, he called on youths to appreciate and discover their God given talents and seek for knowledge first instead of the rush for money.

            Speaking further, the commissioner said that unemployment is a global issue, adding that government alone could employ everybody, just as he said that the state Government had trained over 6,000 youths in vocational jobs so far. 

He stressed that the Government was willing to train more youths, adding that there is plans to empower some 747 graduates across the state with required starter packs to enable them to become employers of labour and trainers were on.

            According to him, in order to make the state skill acquisition centres attractive, Government had approved the setting up of skill acquisition committee, saddled with the responsibility of creating a standard curriculum with a view to certifying the centres under the National Board for Skill Acquisition Centre in order to place participants, especially youths on the same level with their counterparts anywhere in the world.

              He noted that since the his being in the office over a year ago, he had invested a lot in peace building adding that about 85% level of peace had been achieved in the state.
