Parents
have been advised to bring up their children and wards in the way of God.
A
Clergyman, Rev. Aduba John Ike gave the advice during a mass at the end of year
Christmas party organised for the students of St. Patricks’ Catholic College of
Issele-Uku Dioceses in Asaba.
Rev.
Aduba said that the only way the children of nowadays could avoid unnecessary
indulgence in crime was through proper upbringing on the fear of God, adding
that parents should strive to ensure that the educational needs of their
children were taken with utmost priority.
Speaking
in an interview, the Director of Information, Sir Austin Mowah, who was a guest
of honour at the occasion, represented by the Public Relations Officer at the
state Ministry of Economic Planning, Mr. Albert Imuero said that children were
the leaders of tomorrow, stressing that they should be given adequate attention
in order for them not be influenced negatively by the society.
Earlier,
the Chairman of Parents Teachers Association (PTA), St. Patricks’ College,
Asaba, Dr. Emeshili Michael said that the event was to thank God for his
ceaseless protection of the lives of the children, teachers and parents.
Dr.
Emeshili called on well meaning individuals, particularly parents to register
their children in the school, saying that the school had continued to produce
people who were God fearing.
